A brief interview with Leonardo Stone
#1
Hello, this is Keanu Calhoun with ISFN (International Soccer/Football News) reporting with an exciting interview today. Week 1 of the SSL season is almost upon us, and a minor league rookie, who is a former star out of Sydney, has taken the time to have an interview with us today. Please welcome one of Cairo City’s newest additions, Leonardo Stone!

Stone: Thank you, thank you. I’m really happy to be here on such an esteemed program with a legend such as yourself Keanu. It’s very fancy here, they even gave me makeup for the cameras.

KC: Yes indeed, we are the best in the biz. But let’s get down to business and start asking questions, after all, that is what the people are here for. So, despite your success on the field at Sydney, you fell all the way to the third round in the draft… any thoughts on that?

Stone: Yeah, so obviously it’s a little disappointing when you’re drafted later than you think, but even though I may not be happy with the number I was picked at, I’m still happy with the team that drafted me and I’m glad they were able to see what other teams couldn’t. I think a stat keeper may have fallen asleep on the job because the reported goal number of 3 on my draft card was actually 6 (in a mere 7 games!), so I think teams may not have realized I’m as great of a goal scorer as I am. But things happen and I’m just looking to move forwards with the ball club that believed in me.

KC: Indeed indeed, and you are aware Tokyo/Cairo are both bottom dwellers in their respective leagues right? How do you feel about being on bad teams like that?

Stone: I think calling us bad before we’ve even played any games is a bit disingenuous Mr.Calhoun. But I’ll let it slide, for now… Anyways, yes I am aware that in the past we’ve performed lower than one may want, but those teams never had a Leonardo Stone, and with the rest of my young teammates I’m positive we can rise the ranks and win a ring before I retire, whether that be in the minors or majors; it’ll happen, I guarantee it.

KC: A guarantee? Now that is bold. With talk like that I must ask the question, do you want to talk about any potential goals for yourself this upcoming season?

Stone:  Uh, yeah of course I plan to score many potential goals this upcoming season. Weird question.

KC: …
KC: And anything you would like to happen this season in Cairo?

Stone: Well obviously the biggest thing I want to happen is to win the division and get promoted, but I’m sure you knew that already. But for some personal ideas, I’d really like to score at least one more than I did last year, so I guess 7 goals? As a striker, it’s my job to score goals and attack, so if I can’t even beat my goal number from last season I’ve failed my team.

KC: Well last season you were in the academy playing fellow rookies and now you’re against actual good players, so that may be a difficult achievement, but I wish the best of luck for you my friend. Stranger things have happened!

Stone: Yeah it did happen but I really didn’t like the last season. The ending felt very forced and it lost its original spark that made the first 3 seasons so great.

KC: what

Stone: what

KC: Um, so anyhow, the 5 minutes I was allotted for this interview is about to run up, so before we cut you off, do you have anything to say to the audience who awaits your presence on the pitch?

Stone: Of course! To fans of Cairo, I look forward to a fantastic season with you all and if I get another hat trick whatever fan is closest to me can pet my hair that some may call a mullet. And to everyone else, be prepared, for I w—

I’m sorry folks, the 5 minutes are up as the segment is over. Make sure to catch some Cairo matches on ISFN+!
And next up: What DID the fox say? And how will the Fox’s past affect this upcoming mayoral race.
