He did not play a lot but when he was on the pitch we was decently good at his job. In his 7 appearances Gunnar recorded 3 assists and 4 shots on target. Unfortunately, he was not able to get on the score sheet for the season, but goals are not everything. Gunnar was close to getting an overall rating of 7, just short at 6.91 for the season. Honestly, personally it was an overall disappointing season for Gunnar. He did not play up to his expectations and to his ability or skill. The problem with saying that is... Well Seoul had a really phenomenal season. They were up to be promoted, did that and won the league to boot. So while Gunnar may not have had a season worth running home to talk about, his team did. Let's talk about the positives of Gunnar's season. First big positive is that his team won and got promoted. Second big positive is that he was really good on the ball. When the ball was at this feet, he was really succesful. He had a 85% passing percentage. So he rarely made mistakes with the ball at his feet. Though boy was he bad at crosses, he didnt even have a 20% rate at crossing in his rookie season. He was also crazy good at his timing without the ball. He also had a 85% rate on his tackling, so he was a really surefooted defender. Going forward, Gunnar is going to try improving his pace, his shot, keep his footing super sure, and just be the best player he possibly can be. It is going to be a much harder game in D1, so it might be a rough season, but we will try and remain as possitive as possible. APPROVED

My experience of soccer was always simple. There is a ball, there is a goal, there is me. Convince the ball that anywhere else is a better place to be than in the goal behind me. In Mongolia, where Chinggis Khan and his successors mounted horses and rode West, East and South to conquer more or less everyone, such directness made sense. In Japan, where Zen and a self-effacing manner of interpersonal engagement encouraged observation and the cultivation of will, such focus and immediacy made sense. In the SSL Academy, where you play soccer today entirely in service of the soccer you may play months or years in your future, this was somehow against the way of soccer. And so I was a lesser goal keeper in the Academy than I might have been, dividing my mind in every given now of a match between helping that ball to believe with all its leather and dye that it wanted to be where I wanted I to be, and imagining a future world in which a similar ball in a similar place relative to me had similar beliefs pitted against the beliefs of a future me imbued with more learning, will, and athletic experience. My mind struggled, but grew. For a time some people who see soccer with math saw me as the best keeper in the Academy, but this did not last. By the time I left the Academy, I had been overtaken. I do not see soccer with math. I see soccer with will. Picturing a future me in place of the current one in any given now in a soccer game is a loss of focus. Heading to Accra restored the simplicity of my learning. In Accra, as in Mongolia and Japan before, soccer learning was the learning of doing, of focus, of repetition. Some people still spoke of expected goals. I compromised with them by agreeing expected goals existed, though my definition and theirs were not the same. An expected goal is where despite your will, skill, and positioning, the ball is made to believe it wishes to go into the goal more than you can make it believe it wishes to be elsewhere. I can not be convinced any ball wishes to be on a spreadsheet or chart. Like me, a wise ball prefers the open field, surrounded by joy and effort, grass and men. This is the shared understanding at the root of all our contests of will regarding where the ball should wish to be. APPROVED

Well then, as for my rookie season....Well as I am writing this down in the adjecent hotel outside of the stadium (I simply couldn't be asked to missed the scenes), there are still plenty of fans outside of the stadium with flags waiving and team chants piercing through the usual car noises that makes up for the city. In layman's terms, things are wild, and I am grinning from ear to ear knowing just why and how. First, lets get the league stuff out of the way, since that one went awash very quickly. To put bluntly, we were bad. 10 points down from Cairo who won the whole damn league in a six team league. Some could say that it was much tighter than some could say, but really I don't take much pride in the league results. 1 goal and no assists as an attacking midfielder sorta hurts the soul, quiet a bit. But regardless, I won't need to play too much concern or worry about this. The league may have sucked in general, but the cup....man. First up was our match up against our fellow strugglers in FC Rio. And talk about a low scoring event. This all came down to a single goal between the two legs. Thankfully, that goal lands in favour for Tokyo. Then came the semis and the big boys. Cairo. This one was the one that most of us were dreading. And I'll be honest, we came out of this thinking that it wasn't going to meant to be. So imagine our shoke when we came out of Cairo with a 2-1 lead. I think that energized us in the cup for the rest of the leg, because we played strong and won at home as well. Huge. Just huge. And then came the finals. Us. Inter London. And what a game that was. Tension like no man's business, a tight close game, and Nootazuki with what will be the most important save in franchise history.......... Oh, damnit, I was caught up dwelling on the recent events.......maybe for another time, aye? APPROVED

It was a whirlwind of an adventure, let me tell ya. I did not think I was going to end up getting some first team minutes this season. Let alone being drafted first overall in The Simulation Soccer League. I managed to find myself in a great landing spot at Hollywood FC. Shoutout to my coaches and managers, who were all extremely understanding when I told them that I would prefer to be moved to the academy for my inaugural season. I knew when I was picked that Hollywood would be competing, so I figured that it would be better for me to move to the academy to get out of their way. I learnt some great things in the academy where I played as a centreback for most of the season. Shoutout to team Orange, but unfortunately things didn't work out as well as I had hoped for team orange. They ended up finishing 2nd in the league and I also didn't get to see out the end of the season with them! I was called up for the remaining 2 games of the season. The locker room immediately greeted me and wished me well, but they were all still a little bit disappointed, they had assumed that the season was over as Tokyo just couldn't drop a point. Well who would've thought? The manager gave me the nod and I started in the midfield, not only did I get to make my debut, I bloody scored as well. it was a cheeky backpost header to put us in the driver seat in that game. I'll never be able to forget the feeling of scoring my first goal. Further on, I played well enough to get the start in the second game and what do you know? Tokyo dropped points the earlier matchday, so it was all to play for in the last day, Tokyo needed to win to guarantee the title, we just needed to hope for Tokyo to lose and we would need a win to take the title. We won the league and it was only 2 games that I played in the top division. What a season eh? 378 words APPROVED

Back in s7 when I had my rookie season upon joining the league I was pleasantly surprised to be integrated into the Seoul team so smoothly at the rb position and receiving a lot of playing time. Seoul were extremely supportive of my talent and made it clear that I was a key player in the clubs future. In that season we surprisingly pushed hard for promotion alongside Paris and Club Air Buenos Aires coming down to the final 2 or 3 final matchdays we were only 4 points off 2nd place Paris. The tough part of this was it wasn't in Seoul we had to fly over to Paris and try and beat them amongst the ferocious fans screaming for their club. Sadly we couldn't get the job done in that game we lost 3-1 but luckily for us we were still in the promotion race with 3 games against Montreal, Romana and Laos. All 3 were must win games and sadly we only won one of the remaining games and blew our promotion hopes away. But on the positives as an individual in the last game of the season I got an assist and a goal against Laos to truly set up the horizons for s8 and most importantly I got to spend a season learning under the brilliant management of Cole Mertz/Hugh Mann at Seoul. I couldn't be more grateful of the opportunity I had been given not many players come in and force a starting spot at the start of the season upon recently joining as a rookie undrafted free agent but I defied the odds. Seoul had a young team which certainly helped so this was a developmental season that almost turned into promotion which shows the quality of our players and how we put in to compete with the other teams amongst division 2. With Budget Busquets, a legitimate franchise legend, bossing the central midfield at Catalunya, young Brock's path forward seemed to be blocked somewhat. But to be a potential midfield successor to the legendary Busquets, the team understood that Sherwood would need to be thrown straight in with the sharks and learn by experience. After fidgeting on the bench at Catalunya for half a season, the Spanish side sent Sherwood on loan to Athenai FC for the second half of Season 6. Brock would play every minute of the second half of the season with Athenai, including a run to the SSL Cup Final, although the Greeks would ultimately be runners-up to a dominant Hollywood FC side in both the Division and the Cup. The 18-year-old Haligonian lived up to his pre-draft reputation as a midfield wrecking ball, with a playing style that made up in enthusiasm what it somewhat lacked in elegance. He ran 14.97 kilometers per game on average, most of it side to side in the space between the edge of his own box and the halfway line. Analysts rated him as a solid but not spectacular player, averaging a 6.74 game impact rating. He averaged 47 attempted passes per game, completing 42 on average, showing promise as a playmaker, but with room for improvement. Despite going to Kaapstad, like his father, with the fifth overall pick in the SSL draft, despite all the help he got from Senior to learn the ropes of the city, it was tough. The team was coming from a terrible season. Kaapstad had finished at the bottom of Division 2, with 9 points, and a single win. In the Cup, the team had been eliminated in the group stage, with one win in three games, including a 6-0 humiliation to Tokyo. Junior knew it would be more of the same. But it was slightly better. Quarterfinals in the Cup, after making it past the group in a three way tie with Laos and Cairo, on goal difference. Then two losses to Paris, but it was already a better performance than last season. In the league, the team finished last once again, on a tie with Accra, with 8 points. One point less than last season, but one more win. A net positive in Junior's head. But he did not perform as well as he would have wanted. Three goals and no assists. Yes, the team was struggling. Yes, there was no connection yet. Yes, the team morale was not great. But that does not excuse not being able to put the ball in the net. Which is what made Junior pissed. Wins and losses did not matter to him. He knew where the team stood. But he hated not scoring more. Three goals as a striker? Where did his prowess go? Are the pros that hard? Especially with lower goals than his xG. That is what drove him in the off-season. Let's hope he will manage to turn his shtick around in his sophomore season. For his own sanity's good. And for his team's. Being stuck at the bottom of the table sucks. Scoring wins you games, and Junior needs to start doing so. Fast. APPROVED

Being drafted #1 overall, there is no better feeling than feeling you did all you could do in training and rookie leagues to be considered the best of the best. I confirmed I was #1 and I was ready to show what I could do. Now, I've never been a huge goal-scorer or the leader of the team... so what I really wanted to do my first season on Hollywood FC was being a consistent and committed team player and it's difficult to say that I didn't do exactly that. My most important stat line for my rookie season was my minutes players and me appearing in every game my first season which totaled to an astounding 1695 minutes. It's hard to believe myself. My player rating was a bit average...averaging out to a 6.77 over all 19 games, and my best rating was a 7.8 in week 4 where I had my 1 and only assist on the season. Easily my biggest highlight since I didn't get a goal or player of the match award. I had few shots on target, only 3 on the season, and I only had 1 game where I attempted more than 2 shots. Will this be something I try to improve on next year? Possibly, I really just want to continue to be an important player in the midfield as long as possible. One thing I want to continue to improve on is my passing... It's probably the most important aspect of being a team player and while I'm satisfied with my rookie stats, I feel I can improve them next season. My first season concluded with 851 successful passes out of a total of 949 attempted passes which is a suitable percentage of 89.7%. I'm satisfied with my tackling, even though I feel like I can't win some more next season. As one of the only draftees of his class he was not part of their draft team up until the last matchday, where he first saw the Schwarzwälder Fußballverein stadiums greens as an active player after the German club already clinched promotion. For most this would have been a hefty blow to their morale, but the Scottish prodigy approached this in stoic fashion, ready to claim responsibility and lead Academy Team North Shore United to higher heights, while waiting for his chance in the Division 2 cadre. Maxwell managed to close out the Academy season with one of the highest ratings in the Academy (as Central Defender!) and, according to official statistics, also made the second biggest leap in ability, further cementing his morale, will to improve and activity on and off the field. Looking back at the rookie season, all these efforts were not in vain and rather paid off big time. While there wasn't a place in the defense of SFV, the LR welcomed Maxwell with open arms, where he also made his presence known and ascended into a leader-ish position. This paid off as with the re-franchising he was promptly appointed as Captain of Montreal United, SFV's Division 2 team, which is pretty surprising considering the guy is more or less still a rookie with just one league game under his belt. Maxwell's rookie story is one that shows us that hard work, morale and will will be rewarded in the long run. He is now set up to become a popular figure in the Division 2 (where MTL achieved a fantastic start, with Maxwell himself boasting a 7.23 Rating) and possibly take over as one of the key players for SFV in the Division 1 sooner or later.
