Position to be upgraded: LD

  Trick Johnson learned long ago in his childhood obsession with magic the power of ambidexterity in the amount of sleight of hand trickery he can employ.  Being ambipedal Trick knows he can up the amount of slight of feet tricks he can pull on his opponents. Not wanting to move further back in the defense but be a defender who charges up Trick Johnson had two things to work on during the off season.  Upping Trick's right foot talent and opening up the potential for Trick to gain the skills needed to intercept the opponents counter attacks. Trick is now Dual footed, Inside Forwards can meet Tricks right foot.
  Trick worked on playing in the more back part of the position of left wing back this off season, always more than ready to spring forward when the time is right.  Trick is also determined to get his tackling and marking up along with aerial prowess.  Increasing his jumping by resistance training with bands Trick is determined to see his  aerial battles increase.  He noticed he was only winning about 33 percent of those battles.  Trick has a few tricks up his sleeve for that by working on knock ons and flick ons.  Redirecting the ball into a more favorable position for him to win it on the ground with his speed or tapping it towards a fellow unmarked player.  
  By working at the team facility on marking and tackling Trick is hoping to bring his more defensive prowess to the field, in order to couple that with his ability to read the opponents and make instinctual runs to disrupt and intercept the opponents attacks.  Aerial battles, marking, and tackling should help Trick in starting counter attacks and being involved in the build up for the offense on the other side.  By working on his defense Trick is hoping to be more offense minded, it may seem ironic but a good counter attack starts with a turn over.  A good tackle, a well timed run on an interception can make defense so nasty on the attack.  Don't get Trick wrong, he fully intends to be all the way upfront.  If Trick Johnsons were a haircut he would be ‘Magic in the front, Magic in the back’.

Position to be upgraded: CAM

Dunkler had settled into a wonderful spot on the ASP roster. He helped his team maintain possession, worked on good positioning, and trying to always get the ball to the most dangerous strikers for his club. Sure he would end up netting a few goals himself throughout the season, but wasn’t really looking to be the start of the offense. So playmaking ability is checked off, and he is still a vampire after all. So his defense has to be supernatural! If he isnt going to hop in net for ASP, what is Dunkler supposed to do to grow his game? Being a better teammate isnt limited to on the pitch. Dunkler is going to focus on three key areas of growth this offseason: body, mind, and life.

The body is the engine of competition, and you need to maintain an engine so it can perform at top levels for long periods of time. How do you maintain your body as a professional athlete? Food! Dunkler is learning from the best local chefs in Paris on how to help prepare scrumptious meals for his teammates. After practice pastries? Gameday gumbo? Victory veal cutlets?? Dunkler will be making sure teammates have all the calories they need to compete.

If the body is the engine, then the mind is the uh well I guess the driver? And what’s the worst kind of driver? A distracted driver! Dunkler will be employing a campaign of pranks, scares, and tricks on his teammates all offseason. They need to be focused on what they are doing, not worrying about whether that vending machine in the locker room just moved! Dunkler has been watching all the Jackass movies and getting tons of inspiration. Theres no way this backfires!

Mind and body have both been addressed by Dunkler’s offseason training. But what else is missing? What about life outside of football? What does one need to feel satisfaction after the final whistle? MONEY you fool! Its money! Sweet sweet stinking money! Dunkler has gotten certified as a personal financial advisor during the offseason so he can help manage his teammates’ earnings.

Career PT3


Position to upgrade: RD

Chambers has been playing in Tokyo for a little while now. Despite this, his game is still developing. His physical prowess had always been his biggest strength, but he has reached his peak in that regard. What still needs refining is his technical, tactical, and mental game.

The first part of the off-season, he goes back home to Minnesota. He works out with a personal coach at the University of Minnesota facilities. Their primary focus is on first-touch, improving his ability to receive and control the ball with both feet. His left foot remains a weakness, but the holes in his game are many, so that will have to come later. They also work on passing. Focusing on quick combination passing to move the ball safely out of their own end. This is also a bit of a vacation for Charlie, and a chance to spend time with family and friends.

After a healthy dose of recharging, it's back to Tokyo to spend time integrating into the culture as best as he can while also utilizing the team facilities for further refinement of his skills. One of the resources he most likes to tap into is Jude Greer. Greer has been the unquestioned leader of the team since Chambers joined. He has a deep knowledge of the game, and more importantly, the style Tokyo likes to play. Charlie also likes to pick his brain about on-field leadership. He is still working out his own leadership style, but would be foolish not to take pointers from a great leader like Jude.

Lastly, Charlie takes some time to review game footage from the previous season. In the past, he had been too single-minded in his focus on defending. Reviewing his play allows him to judge his decision-making and try to improve his ability to push the ball up the field or position himself better to support. He is still a work-in-progress, but hopefully his work in the off-season will make him more effective.

I'm a GK so just want my 10 TPE please!

Many fans would expect Snor Lax’s off season training to include practice, lifting weights and improving mobility. Those fans would be wrong. Despite many efforts by numerous coaches over Lax’s career, he has no interest in training.

Some coaches over the seasons have found unique ways to get Lax’s to train. For example, in the early part of his SSL career, his coaches made the ball smell like food so he'd be more interested in moving about the goal to get (save) the ball.

This past off season though, Snor Lax decided to leave Ireland and head back to Japan for training. There he could get his favorite snacks and meals which allowed him to focus more on the soccer side of his day.

The drills Snor Lax focused on this of season included:
  1. Roll and block drills - This drills uses Snor Lax’s rolling ability to target the soccer ball and move from side to side to save low shots. Sometimes he falls asleep if the drill gets dull.
  2. Snore-to-Score Reaction - Snor Lax has been known to take a mid-game nap or two, especially in those dull games where his defense is keeping the opposing team at bay. This drill works on his ability to wake up quickly and react to what is happening in front of him. During games, the home crowd has learned to cheer loud when the ball is making it’s way towards Snor Lax to make sure he is awake in time to react to the opposing team’s offensive play.
  3. Mental Toughness - On the mental side of things, Snor Lax has been working on his ability to push away food related distractions. Often times, stadiums are filled with delicious smells like popcorn, sweet treats or hamburgers. This is all very distracting for a food loving being such as Snor Lax. Working on his ability to focus with these outside distractions occurring around him will surely improve his game.

It hasn’t been an easy road for Snor Lax in the Minors but he makes the move into the Majors with a focus on getting better and helping his team get closer to the top of the standings.

Chicken McTendie took his lumps in his first season in Liffeyside. The goal for the season was outlined early on, learn, grow, do your best. But don't expect to win many games.

That proved to be all too true as Liffeyside went on to go 1-3-18 in their inaugural SSL season. But considering that McTendie was just a rookie in the majors and going up against some of the SSL's top flight atheletes his match rating average of 6.6 was respectable. He scored a long goal from his CB position, and had a 91% pass completion rating. His 17 fouls were a bit more then he'd like, but only 3 led to yellow cards.

Now as McTendie takes the offseason to prep for year 2 he went out to his original nesting ground in Paris to work with his former teammate Jakob Fensterhausen who played in front of McTendie when he was a keeper there. Jakob ran Chicken through all sorts of drills to get his big orange feet moving side to side quicker, and to make sure that his wings didn't smack into nearby players which is what drew 12 of Chickens 17 fouls. They also spent time working on getting Chicken up to his maximum speed faster by running wind sprints with the entire net attached to McTendie's hip and he ran the length of the field.

All in all it was a tough offseason but it only made him hungrier to bring winning football to the streets of Dublin. Liffeyside Cetic FC is not a household name yet nor is Chicken McTendie. But as he continues to get better, and the team around him keeps developing, the sky is the limit for this giant yellow fellow. Only time will tell how good he and his team can be in the next few seasons.

Career PT 3:  

Like any Pokemon who wishes to be competitive. Off-seasons require strong EV training. Though most Pokemon opt for vitamins and then some rare candies/XP Candies to raise their strength up, the SSL is against performance enhancing drugs and do not recognize the difference in culture between Pokemon training and regular soccer training. While Allie Bunson has shown herself as a versatile right wing back, there has been a change in the organization. With a few outgoing players and a new draft class incoming, Rapid has suggested the Scorbunny from Postwick to change positions. . . AGAIN. So this off-season she has been working on becoming a more Central midfielder. In theory, this will get her up to Shanghai sooner and fill a needed hole.

So how did Allie prepare? First, she used a Macho brace to rework her effort values in the off-season, and otherwise has been on the training grounds working on her positioning both defensively and offensively. Much like the switch to right wing back, this will result in some adjustment, but given her natural talent, it is hopefully going to be a fairly quick transition, again. She's also taken some time for some pick-up footy with some of her Pokemon friends. There is a big Dragonite who loves to be goalkeeper she's been practicing her shot on, with her likely being higher up the pitch now. Plus, Noodles the Dragonite is a big lad who can move. Also included on the pitch were Zip the Electrike, Cookie the Fidough, Vicky the Eevee, her old Wooloo friend, and her Mum, a solid footballer in her own right. Is it elite competition? No. Is it fun? Absolutely and a good way to keep her skills rounded while not completely losing her mind being away from friends.

And finally, she decided to return to the Pokemon world to rest briefly, stopping in Lumiose City, getting to speak to some of the local kids as a mini-celeb while meeting her fav streamer, Canari. She had fun with the cafes, her friend Noodles got his mega stone, but things were chaotic with Zip getting in debt to a group of guys called the 'Rust Syndicate,' a socialite named 'Jacinthe' trying to make her a MAID for some reason, and then she landed in a Battle Zone at night-

**Upgrade DR position to 20/20**

Between his first and second seasons in the majors, Sandro da Silva got away from his roots a bit. Before he could get back to torching teams in wide spaces and firing in crosses, he needed to not be a liability to his own team anymore. He focused all offseason on improving his physicality and technical defensive skills, but most of all he studied film from his rookie season to see where he needed to improve before his sophomore campaign in the majors. Mentally is where he expects to have made the biggest strides going into his second year.

Once he reaches a point where he is a competent enough defender for his level, expect to see him in that position 100% of the time. While he could still be deployed as a right wingback, playing as a fullback seems to be his future role. Once he is a natural fit at both positions, he can push on with training his physical and technical attacking skills to make him an unrivaled monster on the pitch. The future looks bright for da Silva, even if he’s not playing the attacking role that he was in Krung Thep anymore.

His goals for the future are to build the confidence and ability to run with the ball at his feet more and to improve his technique when it comes to curling in crosses. With Dom Patterson as the target man in Mexico, effective crossing will be a huge plus for him. Eventually, he’d like to improve with using the outside of his foot as well and truly master the trivela. Once all of this comes together, Sandro knows that he can be the best attacking fullback in the SSL, maybe even amongst the all time greats at the position. Peaking along with the core of the CDT team should go a long way towards helping him achieve all of these goals as well, but step one is to master the fullback role instead of his native wingback role.

Upgrade CDM to 20/20
Joao Peixoto had been looking for a new way to train during the offseason. His career has been extremely successful with multiple cup wins and a league title won for Uniao Sao Paulo, but Joao is never satisfied with his success and instead employs a personal trainer to always be on the look out for new and unique ways to improve his performance on the pitch. For most of his career, he had stayed in shape during the off season in traditional ways, continuing to eat healthily, staying consistent in the gym, and doing a few cardio sessions per week. While these methods always did the job, they were neither exciting nor perfect. Joao always returned to preseason training camp in good shape, but he was only maintaining form, not improving it.

Joao's trainer had spent most of the previous few off seasons trying out new ways to improve Joao's physical abilities. They spent a summer focusing on cardio, biking more and mixing in long runs on some days, while doing sprints and other speed work on other days. This improved Joao's raw cardio, but Joao found the routine to be miserable to keep up with and wanted to find a slightly lower impact training routine to reduce wear and tear on his joints.

This off season, Joao and his trainer have taken to playing lower impact sports like tennis, racquetball, and padel instead of only training cardio through running and biking. The games are more fun than a normal workout, so Joao is always looking forward to a few games. He still gets good cardio out of them, with the benefit that they also work on core strength and general coordination as well. This change has paid dividends for Joao, who is off to a scorching start to this season and still feels fresh for the marathon of games still to come.

Media Day

With another season finished, ak-Kazmi ponders about the future. This season was a mental training as a whole, finishing in the bottom three of the league, something needs to change.
We changed the mood with our now ceremonial after season match between Tenochtitlan and Krung Thep (Memorium of the Apostle). Off-season training started with some harsh physical training in the heat of Mexico, everyone on the team needed to strengthen their core and Mazeed wasn't an exception to that. Having a better season this time around wasn't enough for him, as the captain, he needed to be the backbone of the team.

Mazeed worked on himself to be as versatile as possible, wanted to be able to cover every aspect of his teammates in case something bad would happen. The coaches saw potential in him to recruit it to the organization, but only now Mazeed understand what they saw in him. They saw a strong and reliable Center Defensive Midfielder, hiding in the physicality of a Roaming Playmaker. At that point, he went to talk with Divs, starting to make a training program to start the conversion.

Day and night, being the first on the pitch and being the one to lock the doors after practice at Krung Thep training facility, Mazeed training relentlessly to be that trusting player his team loved about him. One night, his trusting partner in the midfield, Apostle joined him to one of his late night practice (after saying grace of course). They talked about tactics, ways to see the pitch, and overall strategies to approach at certain time. Then Apostle said something to Mazeed that he wasn't ready to hear; "I know you al-Kazmi, the puppeteer behind the scenes. The maestro in midfield". He never saw himself as Maestro, even less of a Puppeteer. But Apostle insisted that, in every match, he would see Mazeed move on the pitch like he's seeing something the others don't. Describing that, each time he would see him with that look in his eyes, he could feel the pressure exerted on opponent side of the pitch. The conversation went off without them ever talking about it, laughing at it even.

The subsequent night, Apostle would join , from time to time, Mazeed late night on the pitch for some extra practices. A stronger friendship grew with each training. It wasn't just himself training by two friends laughing and trying tricks like two kids discovering football for the time.

Never missing a practice sessions since and never will, unless it's against his will.

 The end of her second season left Carolien Miedema with a clear understanding of what separated promising from dangerous She had proven she could press, link play, and finish chances. But the SSL demanded more than raw instinct. To become a complete forward, she needed to become unpredictable. So when she set to prepare for her off season development, Miedema didn’t return home to relax. She returned to transform.

Carolien began her off season back in Groningen, Netherlands, training with her childhood academy coaches to rebuild fundamentals from the ground up. Every morning began with technical micro sessions. She worked on tight space ball control, first touch redirection drills, and finishing under contact. The focus wasn’t just on scoring but it was on scoring from different kinds of chances and helping to provide her teammates with chances as well.

Volleys, near post runs, weak foot finishes, and off balance shots. They were all executed until muscle memory took over.

Afternoons were spent with Movement Coach Pieter van Aalst, known in Dutch circles for developing multi role forwards. He introduced her to a curriculum she’d never experienced. A blind side movement, which was meant to disguise pressing angles, scanning habits, and false nine positioning. One of Pieter’s mantras became her anchor: “A great striker scores goals. A dangerous striker creates uncertainty.”

Carolien also spent two weeks in Spain working alongside a retired winger, learning transitional play and wide channel decision making. There, she sharpened her crossing technique and improved her timing when dropping deep to connect play tools that would later allow coaches to deploy her on either flank or centrally.

Physically, Miedema pushed harder than ever. She added strength through resistance training and explosive sprint work, improving both aerial contests and battles with bigger center backs. She even incorporated cold-water endurance swims to build lung capacity and recovery tolerance.

By the end of the off season, she didn’t just return in shape. She returned built different. She was faster stronger and more unpredictable then ever.

What began as a quest to improve her scoring became something bigger. Carolien Miedema didn’t just train for next season. She trained to become undeniable.
