As Voda approaches his 8th season in Shanghai Dragons, the only club he has ever known in his professional career ever since he graduated from the Istanbul FK academy, he reflects upon the seasons past. For the first time in a long a time, there is a sort of calmness that he has not experienced in a long time.
It is a strange time that these emotions have decided to appear that. Losing the most prestigious title of them all in the narrowest of margins, relegated to Division 2 the season after. By all means, it is by far one of the lowest points of Voda's career, when it should be his highest. A bright superstar for the future, having achieved nothing of note. No title, no team of the season, nothing.
However, as the start of the Division 2 matches comes close, Voda comes back to the training fields with a realisation. He sees infront of him his many friends, the community he has helped built. People he helped change, people that helped him change.
What was Voda's dream all along? Did he have any? Were his goals merely dreams set upon him by others who saw him as someone who could grow up to be what they themselves always aspired to be?
These type of questions are ones which rarely anyone can truly find an answer for in their life, Voda being one of them.
However, dreams are neither static nor in complete unison within themselves. What dreams Voda may have thought he had or maybe still has, one thing is for certain. His dream is to live, truthful to himself, trusting himself that no matter what obstacle may come upon his path, that he can find a way to overcome. His dream is to be able to help others to thrive, be in the company of the ones they love, to defeat the demons which every person at some point in the live has to live with inside their hearts.
Has Voda been able to achieve his dreams and goals? Well, a lot of them are still missing, some may never happen after all. However, Voda will step into his first Division 2 match with the knowledge that he has achieved what is perhaps the biggest dream and goal that he never realised he had before: eternal bonds with the people around him.
