Almost a year ago now, the SSL would host its 2nd World Simulation Football Classic in which regions from all around the world would compete to win the biggest international tournament in Sim Soccer. Back then, it all happened so fast. Aart de Trella was a fledgling player in the SSL, yet to play his first Academy game, brimming with excitement to begin his career.

One day, after Aart returned from a long bike ride, he discovered a letter in his mailbox stamped with a seal labeled "WSFC". Not knowing what that was, he did not think to open it immediately and set it down on the counter and decided to make himself some tea. Little did he know, this letter would be the most important he has ever received: an invitation to play for his home region, Benelux, in the upcoming World Simulation Football Classic.

After making some lemon ginger tea, Aart sat down and opened the mysterious letter. The contents within seemed almost too good to be true. How could such a new and unproven player receive this honor? While in disbelief, he also felt immense joy and pride, but also pressure. The world's eyes would be on him as he competed against the best players in the world as a player on the lowest rung of the SSL ladder.

The saying is that pressure makes diamonds and in this case that was proven to be true. Aart joined team Benelux and started as one of the team's center backs. Facing up against the best strikers in the world was not easy, and he showed his inexperience at times, but all doubters would be silenced when Benelux would eventually win the tournament. Despite having some very young players beyond just de Trella, the duo of Furious Chicken and Jean-Claude Goddamn created an unstoppable 2-headed monster surrounded by the correct supporting cast. This victory gave a jumpstart to Aart career, as he became an international name. SSL scouts watched the tournament, and now he was on everyone's radar. The WSFC was the first step in a fabulous first season which would eventually result in Aart being selected 1st overall in the S19 Draft.

Looking forward to the next WSFC, Benelux has work to do to maintain their spot as the best region in Sim Soccer. Both Furious Chicken and Jean-Claude Goddamn are gone, and other players will have to step up to lead the team. With a year of experience in the SSL playing for C.F. Catalunya, hopefully Aart will be ready to accept that role.

Approved - I can't wait for the WSFC. Going to be some great football!

It’s a strange time for Pablo Kawasaki with the cup just right around the corner. Although, he has grown up in Croatia, he is still unsure of where he feels like he would belong to play on the international level. With both parents from other countries as well, Pablo has the option to represent several nations at the upcoming cup. He knows though, once he picks one, he is set to that country and will give them 100% from now on.

It is currently that free agent process as he waits to see what options may be available for the goalkeeper turned defender. He has felt quite antsy but has kept it in the back of the mind, as he has not let it get into his thoughts, but knows that he will have to start thinking about it very soon. With majority of his focus on his first season in the Major Leagues with Catalunya, the focus has been there. Heck, I don’t think Pablo even realizes when the cup even is, just knows that it is coming up.

When it comes to decision time though, Pablo isn’t the type just to lurch himself onto the top roster. He wants to go to a place where he will feel like he will have an impact not only this cup, but the cups to come until he retires. These first few seasons in the league have taught Pablo a LOT about adaptability, and the ability to be able to conform to the teams’ best needs. He is looking for a place to where he feels like he can truly represent himself and his family, and knowing him it will likely be the most wild choice of them all.

Stay tuned for the adventures of what should be a thrilling sweeptstakes in where in the world will Pablo choose to play for!

Approved - Excited to see where Pablo lands!

It is just on the horizon. The World Simulation Football Classic, or the WSFC for short. Honestly it should just be the World Cup, no idea why the name is like that. Regardless, Predrag was excited. He joined the SSL exactly after the last one ended so he has had several seasons now to prepare, and as things stand he is almost guaranteed to be in Eastern Europe's starting 11.

Having just left Montreal to join Romana in the Majors, he is in a perfect position to prove himself as a scoring threat. To add to his interest, he had also applied to be the Player/Manager of the national team. With his experience as Tactician for Istanbul and Montreal, as well as his new job as Assistant Manager in Romana, he believes he has what it takes to lead the team to glory. But all those thoughts are to be put aside for the moment, he has a training camp to participate in.

Predrag showed up on time as always. His parents always taught him to be on time and if he was to be a player, let alone manager, for the national team then he would have to show professionalism. Walking around the camp and seeing the other players come in, Predrag had a thought "I know these guys, I know all of them." Predrag never gave it much thought since nearly all of the other nations had veterans but Eastern Europe was not in a good place for players before S20 showed up. In fact, the two oldest players called up to the national team were Daedalus Kronus and Coin Flip, fellow players from Romana who were only S18 and S19. Nearly all of the players in camp were S20: Pablo Kawasaki, Juozas Kupinas, Dunkler Sowerwine, Cesare Pinkman, Marean Dohbra, Denis Mobek and of course Predrag Dobrić.

It was clear to Predrag that Eastern Europe would need to rely on developed but not yet peak talents. No matter, he always loved a challenge. He walked to the changing room to get ready for practice, they would be starting with a 7v7 match, a very odd way to start training. Soon he would be wearing the national team kit, that idea filled him with more anxiety than playing in Majors. Yet he knew one thing, he'd do whatever it took to win the WSFC.

Approved - Show up on time and prepare full force. Wishing you the best of luck in the WSFC

The Isle of Man is where Trick Johnson is from, and falls under Ireland.  Ireland currently has 8 active and 3 inactive players.  That is not enough so Ireland is playing with the British Isles this time around.  Ireland however has some of the biggest monsters around this season.  Sterling Scott, and Sean O’Leary, as the two highest TPE players and also Strikers, not to mention Ireland also boasts the great Eric Belmont.  That is a 3 headed monster of a team for Ireland alone Just up front.  Three of those 8 are active phenoms.

British Isles has Puma SUperhoops at RWB with a monster 1489 TPE making him the 3rd most TPE in the group so I would expect the British Isles to incorporate wing backs and if that's the case, than the great Trick Johnson is the highest TPE LWB and should surely start.

The British Isles boasts Evan Hunt 1483 TPE at Central Defensive Mid, and then two Central Defenders  with Slab Head at 1377, and Emmanuel Blackman at 1366 TPE.  Plenty to have a back line of 5 on defense with releasing the wing backs on attacks, leaving two or three on defense.

In goal would have to be the amazing James Asprey who is a stalwart defender and a true brick wall in the net.  Tonto Tut Could play CM, and Belmont has secondary abilities at left midfield, being pretty damaging if he was drifting in and late to the box.

Then you can put Sam Albinson over at RAM.  That would give you a pretty dynamic dangerous combination of eleven.  Employing a 3 2 1 2 2.  Two big strikers up front, with LAMs and RAMs out wide a CM in the midfield supported by two wingbacks overlapping, and a defense of two CD’s and one CDM could be a very dynamic line up where the attacks and overlaps could come from any side at once.  Looking at the British Isles line up this is something I could see working and see Trick Johnson being a vital starting eleven.  Exciting times for year five and Trick Johnson.

Approved - After reading that list, the British Isles are definitely going to be a tough matchup for everyone.

Getting to the big leagues is always such a great accomplishment and one that everyone should be proud of. But getting the opportunity to respresent one's home country playing the sport you love, that is soo much more. It is a honor and privilege to be able to respresent the USA. So when Cade Power was called to join the US team, he was beyond excited and humbled to be able to accept it. Power had to call his parents and tell them the amazing news immediately, who they also shared the same feeling of excitement and shock. Cade Power has always wanted to represent the USA ever since he started playing. While growing up, he only wanted to wear jerseys of US players, Landon Donovan being his favorite. He loved watching the US matches, especially the World Cup matches. It really makes him realize how far he has come in the sport to now join those who once watched.
But now that he gets to join the team, he will be playing alongside some of the SSL best players. He joins his Schwarzwälder FV teammate, William Williams. Along with Pete Martell, Jude Greer, Jalen Brooks, and Charlie Chambers. While Power is still a little younger, he realizes it still is a great opportunity to learn from these great players. Power knows he is a skilled player and brings his own strengths into a match but there is always room to get better. And what better way than to learn from USA greats. This USA callup will be something that Cade Power remembers for his whole life. He will keep his jersey and get it signed by all his teammates as a momento. It will serve as a reminder to him to always keep pushing and getting better, and good things will come. Now time to show what the US and Power can do!!

Approved - I'm sure Power will do his country proud!

This. Is. The. Year.

Voda has had a difficult journey with lots of struggles along the way. However, his effort was noticed by the national team manager of The Alpine Federation. It has been Voda's dream to play in these colours for so long. Countless days as a kid daydreaming, hoping to one day achieve what few can manage.

However, as it always seems to be with Voda, he is under immense pressure. He yet again comes in as someone touted as a future star and leader of the team. It is high expectations such as these which weight on Voda heavily, and has no doubt been the reason why his time at Shanghai has still not shown him to be the star he is meant to be.

Is this purely a mentals issue? Or is it a sign that Voda after all this time, perhaps, is indeed an overhyped experiment?

Voda's teammates never fail to give him encouragement. Even in his WSFC team, where he now plays with players from many teams who are direct rivals to Shanghai, such as CD Tenochtitlan mastermind Andre Caetano and SSL legend Alessandro Del Pirlo.

The Alpine Federation's future success hinges a lot on its S20 prospects. Andre Caetano was previously mentioned. However, we also have USP's Jakob Fensterhausen, Buenos Aires' charismatic Giacomo Santori, as well as Voda's Shanghai teammates Tony Delvecchio.

There is also another veteran alongside Del Pirlo, that being Vito Habjanič. The trio of Voda, Habjanič and Delvecchio is perhaps the most interesting. Will they be able to call on their experience of playing together in Shanghai to provide Alpine with a strong trio that can play off eachother? Only time will tell.

This upcoming WSFC will be the make or break moment for Voda. Will he break out of his shell and become a true star and future legend of the game, or is he going to stay in eternal self doubt, in a pit full of what ifs?

Approved - Voda is going to show how legendary he is. I know it

It has been a fantastic season of football for Ashito Aoi both as a player and as a manager. Why you ask? As far as his player stats are concerned, his fourth season in the SSL (Year 3 with AS Paris) was his best by far! I know I know. This has been the case with Ashito since he joined Paris in Season 20 but believe me,  that is the trajectory of growth Ashito has seen so far year on year. Paris won the Minors in emphatic fashion with a whopping sixty one points and Ashito was a vital cog in the AS Paris machine both on and off the field. Now why did you add that it was a fantastic season as a manager as well you ask? Well that would be because of the fact that it was Sao Paulo's season finally as they won their first ever Majors title as well! So all in all a pretty great season for Ashito as a player and a manager. And we have something very big in the horizon after this upcoming season - The World Soccer Football Championship! But before we discuss more about that, shall we take a look at Aoi's stats this past season shall we?

In this past season, he featured for AS Paris across 25 appearances and 2239 minutes. During those, he scored 4 goals and provided 14 assists all the while registering a much improved 7.89 average rating. These performances also bagged him five Player of the Match awards this past season, the highest in his career so far. Again this season, Ashito improved upon his offensive and defensive prowess and that was clearly seen in a much improved Key Passes made (76 when compared to 59 and 39 in S21 and S20 respectively) and Tackle Percentage (being 84% this past season). Now, because of this set of improvements, Ashito will be called up to the Majors team Sao Paulo from S23 onwards as a Defensive Midfielder.

Now him getting swapped over to a Defensive Midfielder position would prove to be a boon to his WSFC Region Asia. And he is excited this time around to play for the Asian Roster very eagerly as well! Why you ask? If Ashito was still stuck as a RD/RWB, he definitely would have been the second choice over Goku Atliketwopercent who clearly has a better TPE of 1384 while playing at RB/RWB. Now with Ashito covering the Defensive Midfield, it would be a great chance for Asia to clinch that title because of the presence of many high TPE players across positions from Yoma Hashimoto in LWB with a 1712 TPE, Wang Zhihao at Striker with 1552 TPE, Billy Bob (though inactive) at Central Midfield with 1412 TPE,  Goku with 1384 TPE covering the RD role, Ashito covering the Defensive Midfield with a 1200 TPE, Rigby Emerson with 1322 TPE covering the wings or being a second striker, Shingo Takechi handling the goal with a 1298 TPE, Chris Warrick with a 1108 TPE covering the LD role and Allie Bunson with a 1004 TPE supporting in the midfield to name a few! Mind you these are the TPE counts of these players at the start of Season 23, so who knows how much more TPE will they accrue over the course of this season! So what was the point of all this exposition about the Asian Team you ask? Well it is just to show that thanks to the position change, Ashito has a fighting chance of winning all the four trophies that are up for him in this Season 23 of the SSL and he certainly wouldn't mind winning it all!

Approved - Team Asia is going to be a tough draw!

The WSFC is expected to be next season, it is the dream of every player to play and represent their nation in this prestigious tournament; certainly this is the case Giacomo Santori.

The Alpine Federation Football Association had called every single SSL Alpiner player for a meeting in an undisclosed location in the Alps.
While the majority of players didn't know why the meeting was held, Santori did know, the meeting was just to announce that he together with Caetano would manage the national team.

After the meeting the team was sent to a nearby football field to train, before starting the training regime for the day Santori and Caetano wanted to meet all the players; the alpine team has a young core of players such as Qartista, Voda, Delvecchio, Fensterhauser and many other, along with this young core there are two veterans of the precedent WSFC being Del Pirlo and Habjanic.

After an initial and standard warm up, Santori order to start of a 11vs0: Santori basically ordered all the players to place themselves on their favorite position of a various number of formations, after the players have been positioned Santori explained to everyone how ideally the construction of play should happen and how every player should ideally move during on possession.

After the 11vs0 Santori ordered another session of quick warm up to make sure that everybody was ready for the next exercise, the team was divided in half and both halves were to go on a trek up and down a nearby mountain, Caetano’s half would first down the mountain for half an hour then stop for 10 minutes and then go another half an hour back up to the field, Santori’s half would instead go half an hour up the mountain then stop 10 minutes and at the end go back down the mountain for another half an hour.

Santori had chosen to go up first for a specific reason, up the mountain there was a shrine where he secluded himself for a couple of minutes, some curious player silently entered and saw Santori kneel in prayer and say:” Please lend us all the strength to make us able to bring the trophy to Rome”.

Both halves met at the training ground at the agreed upon hour and the managers called it a day.

CPT#4 - https://forum.simulationsoccer.com/showt...87&page=11

I was speaking to my father Roy Keane last night over lunch (I had to pay again) after beginning my 4th season with the Krung Thep and Tenochtitlan organisation, and told him I need to do an article about my first international call up for the British Isles. It resulted in a tense lecture about why the Republic of Ireland, or just “Ireland”, shouldn’t be included in the British Isles federation, since they are an independent nation. I didn’t want to stoke the fire by discussing how Northern Ireland is part of Britain, or that 4 of the top 5 TPE players of the British Isles federation do indeed hail from Ireland.

Looking at the British Isles options, I can see myself, an S20 debutant, having notable game time in the third ever World Simulation Football Classic by playing center midfield alongside Evan Hunt of S16. If not, then fellow S20 alumni Thomas Jimotheus deserves his time in my place. In any case, the idea of me having any positive impact at all on British success in such a prestigious tournament is the reason I click the Activity Check button every Monday morning. Britain aren’t outright favourites to win the competition, but I won’t be surprised to see us reach a semifinal or even final, and maybe even lift the trophy after a couple of underdog victories.

In a recent podcast featuring Ali Dia, one of the SSL superstars and poster boy of West Africa, he highlighted how the class of S20 will shine for the British Isles in the fourth WSFC, since other players such as Trick Johnson, James Asprey, and Dom Patterson will be at or nearing their peak as players. That will be a tournament we should be entering as favourites, hopefully with some silverware to boast for our respective organisations, proving we have every right to look at the WSFC trophy as another - the most prestigious - accolade to boast.

Approved - There will be a lot of strong teams come the WSFC!

Matias in his new apartment in Sinsheim after making the move from Montreal does not have servants or maids like most players. He likes to walk around with just a robe on around his apartment. Almost like a daily ritual he gets the kettle on, imported from Argentina, and sets it to mate mode. He doesn't believe in that woke nonsense of have a little mountain of yerba in his mate, so like his grandmother, he dumps in about 1/3 of yerba into his mate, shakes the dust to the top, and sets it aside till his water is ready. He gets into the elevator and goes downstairs to get the mail. As he walks out of the elevator he is greeted by the old woman who lives in the floor below him, he says hi courteously, but she doesn't respond. Matias has always attributed this to the fact that she is German, and not because he plays cumbia till 3 am almost every night while dancing around like he is on a pogo stick. He checks the mail, typically just checks from his sponsorship deals and his club, but today, he was met with a rather disgusting form of green that was in his mailbox. He thought that the kid from Argentina whose Dad he got addicted to gambling was asking for some more signed shirts. He read the sender, and to his surprise it was South America for the WSFC, as he was selected for the national team. Matias was as excited for this as when he was selected by Montreal and SFV in the prospect draft. He quickly texted his friends and family back home and was met with a lot of congratulations. Matias waved hello to the security guard and decided to share the news. The security guard looked at him strangely, he was rather upset he didn't want to play for Central Europe since Germany had been so kind to him. Matias understood the frustration, but decided to let the security guard realize how silly of a question that was. He went back up stairs, put the water into his termo, poured it into his prepared mate and had one thing on his mind, beat the British Isles...

Approved - South America got a solid player!
