2026-04-05, 07:09 PM - Word count:
I joined the league with Muunokhoi Sarantsatsral, Mongolian keeper, mushroom addict and sometime psychopath. He went to the only franchise he ever knew - Schwarzwälder Fußbalverein (although it began its life as Adowa Accra, where Muuno's career started).
The team was hungry, outmatched, and loaded with young talent. So, we faithfully piled on our TPE and piled on our losses. Then piled on more TPE and not so much losses. Then finally, piled on TPE and rose to the first division, higher up the first division, and even to titles.
My second player, Tlacaelel Tepoztli is less of an off-the-pitch weirdo, but more of an on-the-pitch one. He is only just barely beginning to sniff at usefulness on the pitch, particularly as he shifted down from SFV to Montreal to finish the season. Both SFV and Montreal land in their respective second divisions to start the upcoming season.
That might feel like a setback, but somehow it's opportunity instead. SFV loaded up on draft picks and filled the locker room with new and old friends on draft day. With so much youth, it feels as though we're ready to go back the old pattern: piling up losses and TPE, then fewer losses and more TPE, then promotion to first divisions, and then....
...one can't presume. But the the moment, bottoming out has somehow come with an aura of opportunity. Tlacaelel Tepoztli will be thrilled to come into his power in the minors or be exposed as unready in the majors. Maybe neither is fully part of a plan - but either can fit a pattern that's worked or SFV before.
