One to Remember
#1
London, England

After five games into the season, Inter London still holds the top spot in the Division Two minor league. After starting the season 3-0, two goals from talisman Hans Grudnar saw Inter London suffer a 2-0 defeat to CS Rova Mpanjaka. A hard-fought game, but the home team dominated the game with eight shots on target and 1.77 expected goals. A clash between the top two teams in the division was decided on a red card from Sheppard Vakarian, which ultimately allowed Inter London to take control of the game and crush Cairo City 4-0. Two goals from Chris McZehrl, with Miester Blobbé and João Mendes adding one of their own. Although they are both tied with 12 points, this result has increased the goal differential by a significant amount.

João Mendes had a week to remember. He scored his first career minor league goal against Cairo City. After Vakarian was sent off and McZehrl calming slotted home the penalty to go up 2-0, Mendes was able to put the game out of reach after making a late run into the box unmarked. The speedy Blobbé charging down the wing made a great pass to Mendes, whose first-time finish gave the keeper no chance. Mendes currently has a 7.16 average match rating after 5 games and continues to be a steady presence in Inter London's midfield.

Inter London will look to continue their impressive run as they take on Seoul MFC and Montréal United next week, the two bottom teams in the division, who have one combined win so far after 10 games.
