Coming off the pitch from their match against Stockholm IK, the Atletico Medellin players are ecstatic, having upset the pundits' game predictions. After receiving the Man of the Match trophy, Isaiah is dragged to the team’s conference room for his first interaction with the press.
Journalist: First game of the season in the Academy and you scored two goals. What was going through your head after the game finished?
Isaiah: Thanks for the question, I was more in disbelief than anything. First game in the league and I had the best game of my life. But I need to thank the coach and all my teammates.
Journalist: On the pitch you were calm and collected, but were you nervous before the game started?Isaiah: Of course I was, the stadium, the fans…that was all nerve wracking. However, once the whistle blew, all my nerves disappeared. I stopped fully thinking and just trusted my training. With each touch I grew more confident. That’s why, at least for me, the first half was quiet and I heated up in the second.
Journalist: How important was your squad’s support in creating those chances?
Isaiah: They were critical. My first goal came from a long bomb goal tender kick across the field, where I was able to beat the defenders and get a solo opportunity. The second came from a nice through pass that gave me another solo opportunity. I only finished the shots they helped create.
