What happened with Stockholm IK?
#1
SIK
Hello guys, yeah... I think at least most of us experienced the up- and downfall of Stockholm IK in this season in the academy league. At the first few matchdays, we looked unstoppable, the team to beat!

Here the results of our first 4 matches:

1) 4-2 win against Victoria Falls
2) 3-0 win against Port Royal FC
3) 5-0 win against PS Jakarta
4) 2-0 win against Atlético

only 2 conceeded goals against 14 scored goals, 4 out of 4 wins, leader in the standings. After such a great start into the season, everyone thought, we would kinda dominate this season or at least compete for the title. I am not sure, but did Stockholm IK won the academy league once? As far as I know: no. Correct me if I am wrong

The whole team worked perfectly fine. Me, as the goalkeeper, kept the ball away, our defence defended like a title contender, midfield provided many goals and the striker were there, where they should be and also scored many goals. Some speculated even a new record from amount of goals in a academy season from van Huntelrooy

Then the first cracks showed up:

5) 2-5 loss against Ístanbul

That loss wasn´t just a "loss", it was against the last position in the standings, who only scored a single goal so far in matchday 1. And they only had a single point so far. So in 3 consecutive games, they did not scored a single goal, but then 5 against Stockholm IK and a huge win. I think it was in the first 30 minutes into the game 4-0 up for Ístanbul? We came back with 2 goals, so there was a little hope to a huge comeback, but then.. penalty for Ístanbul, 5-2. Our hopes crushed into small pieces. And the 5-2 was the end result. Okay, that can happen, so it was just one game, where it did not went well, so can we get back the lead in the standings?

6) 2-0 win against Adowa Accra

YES! back at the top in the standings, but:

7) 1-1 draw against Sydney City

after half season, we won 5 games, lost once and drawed once. Still not that bad, but we had no chances to win against Sydney. Sydney was at the bottom of the table, should have been a win, if Stockholm wants the title, but wasn´t capable to

8) 2-4 loss against Port Royal
9) 2-3 loss against Victoria Falls
10) 2-3 loss against PS Jakarta
11) 0-2 loss against Atlético
12) 3-5 loss against Ístanbul
13) 3-5 loss against Adowa Accra

6! I repeat: SIX CONSECUTIVE LOSSES!!! We have absolutly no idea, what happened, but each game felt like we had no chance. We played as we were underdogs against every team. Even though Jakarta got human players, there was a little bit of hope left, after we lead 2-1 against them, even though, they looked very strong in recent games and they showed us also their strengths, but we were lucky so far. But then 2 goals from Jakarta destroyed the rest of little hope we had left, of fighting for the academy league title. After this game, we were sure: Thats it

Then the next shock: Atlético got their first human players, just before we faced them. The worst possible moment for us to happen, but it happened... and of course, we lost that game as well. Since then, the 0,000000000001% chance of still competing for the crown went to a negative percent chance. Okay, can we still maaaayyybe get top 3? or Top 4? Therefore a win against Ístanbul is needed... 3-5 loss. And then against Adowa Accra 3-5 loss

We have only one game left, and thats against Sydney City, last inn standings. Sydney can hope for 7th place, if they win against Stockholm. And the chances of that happening isn´t that low!

We are 5th and having no chance for top 4, since they are at least 4 points away from us. Technicly we could even drop to 6th, since its 3 points difference, but we have a goal difference of +1 against Port Royal with a GD of -14. I dont think, we will loose 15-0 or so......... or do we?

At the moment, where I got suspicious about existing home advantage, which could explain the first loss against Ístanbul, the rest of the games felt like that:

Away games:
We loose, because of not having home advantage

home games:
We loose, because of not having home advantage (Yes, I em serious)

At least the title can be still won by 3 teams in the last matchday:
Victoria Falls, PS Jakarta and Ístanbul

I personally would hope that Ístanbul wins it, because they were dead last after the first 4 matchdays and that would be a historic come back.

But what happened with Stockholm mid-season? We dont know, we got fmed.. and that game after game, had only one good game after our first loss against Ístanbul, thats it. Everything else, we played as we were underdogs. We had some personal changes throughout this season, was that maybe the reason? Could be. Especially after we lost the best AI-player (Pederson Legend) after a human player tooked his place. From there on, the real downfall began. Pederson provided us with many good assists, and then he injured heavily and was out for the rest of the season

But hey, season is almost (finally) over, and I hope we will have more success in the "real" competitions!

What do you guys think, who will win this seasons Academy league?

I personally think Jakarta will bring it home, while Victoria Falls draws their last game against Adowa Accra. But my hopes are for Ístanbul, my most favourite team this academy season (After Stockholm IK if course!, but out of the other 7 teams, Ístanbul is most liked team by me!)
