Thomas Thunder is still a kid, but he has been working at this for what feels like a lifetime. He wants to be a professional. It was not forced on him as a child but just something he always knew. He played with friends outside before joining being invited to join a youth club in Paris. He never had the opportunity or requirement to travel much for the team because his home city had more than enough competition. Playing for him club he tried out just about every position on the team, just to see what they felt like. He has the physical attributes to be successful anywhere, but he eventually found a favorite position playing out wide. He could run up and down the field and seemingly had no end to his energy. Like most kids though, he really focused his practice on what he thought was the most fun, and that was scoring. His shot was pretty good, especially with his right foot, so even though he played on the left wing, he always found himself drafting towards the middle to try and make something happen.
The day finally came when Thunder was allowed to join the academy. He literally could not be more excited. Absolutely bursting at the seams. He was waiting for the phone call on June 12th to tell him what team he would assigned to as a part of the program. At 9:50AM he got that call. Hands shaking from the adrenaline he answered but could hardly make a straight sentence. Fortunately Voda was straight to the point. Port Royal FC. Dark green was his new favorite color!
Thunder has not arrived yet to Jamaica, but his plane ticket is booked and it is only a matter of time now. Setting off on his own for a life's worth of adventure.
