Paris, France

With the pre-season friendlies officially over, João Mendes and Inter London took on AS Paris in the first game of the minor league division one season. Expectations coming into the season are relatively positive. The team knows they are still young and likely won't compete for the title, but they want to make sure they avoid relegation at all costs.

The formation is rather similar to last season, the classic 4-2-3-1 that really set the team apart in division two. As the team is comfortable with it tactically, it was a good way to open up the season against one of the top teams. The team consists of 9 returning members, along with their two new draft picks, Erickson and Rivers. This should bode well for the season as the team has great chemistry.

As the whistle blew to open the season, Inter London knew right away they were going to be in one. A goal from Owen Goal in the 11th minute saw the newly promoted side go down quickly. The score stayed the same going into the break, with Paris outshooting London 14 to 2. A wonderful cross from João Mendes to Ryan O'Neill saw Inter London tie the game in the 55th minute. The game got a little feisty in the later stages, with 4 yellow cards shown for both teams combined. Unfortunately for Inter London, AS Paris was too much of a match as a goal from Silver Tarandus in the 79th minute and Ozzy Trent Kovacs in the 86th minute put the game out of reach.

Although it was João Mendes' first game in this new division, he did not look out of place. He had the top rating on the team with 7.4, had two key passes, and one assist on the lone goal. He also attempted six tackles and had 3 interceptions. He knows that the competition is going to be a lot stiffer this season, so he's ready for the challenge.
