Academy Task 5: SSL comaprison
#1
For my deep dive I'm going to compare the SSL to the other sim leagues that I'm in (PBE, ISFL, and SHL)

First off it's come to my understanding that this league is much more casual compared to the other 3. All I really have to do is just use an affiliate task and that's 6 TPE right there. Making media isn't required that much to be good in this league. In order to be good in the other 3 I have to be much more involved in earning league money to be good, this also depends on what position I selected in each of those leagues as well

The forum layout is very close to the SHL layout. In both leagues the TPE check list is at the top of the page and the way everything is set on both pages is also very similar. Even as I type this I can also see another similarity between the SSL and both the ISFL and SHL is that most of the smilies are next to the box used for typing

The portal is where the differences start to show. While the main player page has the buttons for activity checks (similar to the ISFL, PBE, and ISFL) the layout is completely different from those leagues. Another big difference between the leagues is that the SSL has no weekly training, just seasonal equipment. I''m get into this later. Also in the portal in order to make purchases I have to go to the bank section on the portal to do this. I'm not complaining about this as this is something I figured out pretty quickly

Seasonal equipment is one of the biggest if not the biggest difference between the SSL and other leagues. First off here's a list from least expensive to most expensive league seasonal equipment and how much TPE each is worth

SSL: 7.65M - 18 TPE
SHL: 8.4M - 28 TPE
ISFL: 13.5M - 30 TPE
PBE: 18M - 45 TPE

As you can see the SSL is by far the cheapest league for seasonal equipment and pays out the lowest TPE amount. I'll gladly take this trade off given that this league has no WT, unlike the other 3 leagues and those league WT cost 1.0M for the highest amount of TPE possible (5 TPE). The SSL has the highest AC TPE payout at 6 TPE, again that's a fair trade off in my opinion

Another big difference is how the PT's are handled. For the ISFL, PBE, and SHL requires you to answer a prompt in a minimum of 150 words for the potential to earn 3 TPE. Here the PT is a little more simple IMO; make an article, create a graphic, or record a podcast for 6 TPE. Also do the PT's here actually pay out league money because of how they are handled

A similarity between the 4 leagues is they have some sort of prospect league and players are assigned to the different teams, but it's also a difference because the academy here lasts a season while in the other leagues it last over the course of the offseason while here it's an entire season. Again not complaining as it gives us time to work on our player ratings and we have a chance to be better when we finally get drafted by a team

One last difference is how the draft/seasons work. Like the other leagues the SSL has a minor league, but the minor league team is tied to the SSL pro team. In the ISFL, PBE, and SHL the minor league works separate to the top league and those minor leagues have a cap on how much TPE a user can spend on player ratings. Because of the independence of the minor leagues, the ISFL, PBE, and SHL have two separate drafts in two different seasons. Here it's just one draft and the team that drafts you has a minor league team that works as an affiliate to the SSL pro team. While this league has a promotion/relegation system the other 3 do not and for a good reason
