Team Info
Adowa Accra Football Club, known as Black Stars within its fan base, is a Ghanian professional football club based in the capital-city of Ghana, Accra.
Created in 1983 by a group of Ghanian professional footballers, that came as refuges from Nigeria. The team has just promoted for the first time to the Simulation Soccer League, being the second team from Africa achieving this (along with Cairo FC). They are also one of the few clubs that won a promotion undefeated, going without a loss in a promotions campaign in the S3 season.
They have played their home games in the Accra Sports Stadium, considered their traditional home ground, pending the announcement of the new stadium.
According to researches and polls, Adowa is one of the two most popular football teams in Africa.
Team Logo/Colors
The team's logo has received many redesigns throughout the years, but the final one, established in 2003, is an alternative representation of Dwannimmen.
Dwennimmen or "ram's horns," symbolizes that the strong have to also be humble. The symbol is a bird's view of two rams butting heads. The rams' horns symbolizes strength and humility through the characteristics of the beast. A ram will courageously fight against its foes when prompted, but will submit when this is wise, indicating that even the strong have to humble to protect their loved ones. This is reminiscent of how many Africans were removed their homelands, enslaved, and still fought for their rights and freedom.
Colors come from the The national flag of Ashanti the gold symbolizing the gold mineral soil wealth and gold bar wealth of Ashanti and a green representing the rich Ashanti nation rainforests; the black horizontal strip the unity symbol of the Ashanti people.
Adowa Accra Kit
The team's kit is mostly based on the Kente Cloth designs.
Kente refers to a Ghanaian textile. Historically the fabric was worn in a toga-like fashion by royalty among ethnic groups such as the Ashanti and Ewe
