Liffey is off to quite a surging few games here, taking on some top teams and showing that they aren’t just avoiding relegation, but fighting for a championship. Kaspars Kalinins is improving his playmaking game, moving beyond the defensive stalwart, and towards a ruthless counter-attacker. He’s a master of both feet, which has proven very useful in his young career, but sometimes his vision has been lacking, and he tends to leave some free balls in the path of his opponents. It’s great and all to win the ball back, but to give it up again in more dangerous fashion nullifies everything. Kalinins has also begun taking some Free Kicks for the team, but he’s still very obviously a rookie in that regard. He’s not really a scoring threat, although he does have some experience from range, but it’s more of a case that he’s offensively limited in the box, and he can technically put a ball in play if he opts to. He will need to carve some time to practice free kicks, and quite a lot, but there’s a lot of other competing priorities. It can be tough to only have so many training hours in a week, because everything is so useful!
