Stockholm Academy Games 10 and 11 Highlights and Match Players
#1
Gameday 10 and 11 Preview and last week recap for Stockholm IK:
Stockholm looked good last week and look to takeover the 3rd spot in the league standings if they can keep their momentum as the team is riding a 3 game winning streak now.  Starting off they will be facing Sydney City in game 10 who is currently last in the league standings.  However match 11 will have Stockholm facing Atletico Medellin who is currently 6th in the league and also looking improved over the past couple weeks.  It is unlikely that Stockholm will make any lineup changes and look to guys like Metalbeard and Bubblegum to lead the charge. Currently Bubblegum is looking like she could compete for the league title in goals and Metalbeard is a high rated defender that some predict could be top 5 in the upcoming draft.  Goalie Swiss Cheese has improved game after game and the team looks to be playing with confidence in front of him.  Look for the coaches to expect a high work rate and pace from their squad for the remainder of the season.  Only 5 games remain for the season and the Stockholm club is looking for a strong finish.

Stockholm Game 10 Recap, July 20 2026

2 Strikers with Bubblegum and Janson up forward.
4 Midfield is Adamones and Wouters on the wings with Dono and Stotch in the middle.
4 Defense with 3 legend players and RB Metalbeard
In goal as always is Swiss Cheese

1 striker,
2 Wingers,
3 Midfield with 2 center and 1 defensive,
4 Defense players
All players in game 10 lineup including the goalkeeper are legend players.

Stockholm is 3wins and 2loss in their past 5 games and are on a 3 game winning streak.
Sydney City is 0 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws in their past 5 games and are on a 3 game losing streak.

Stockholm is coming into this game in 4th place but if they win tonight will be in 3rd place and they would be only 4 points out from the top 2 positions in the league.  Sydney City is in 8th place and there is a 16 goal differential separating the two teams.  Sydney City could be in 7th place if they can secure a win over Stockholm in tonight's game.

Match Details:

Minute 2:
Metalbeard would look to start things off early by making a good turn on the ball and beating his man.  With a quick sprint down the right side he would make an early cross and find the head of Bubblegum.  Sadly the shot did not meet the target and would go out of play.  Still good to see some early attack attempts from Stockholm.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 6:
The Sydney City team would use some open space on the left flank and start drawing in defenders will some fast running and passing.  Quickly they changed sides by making a long cross to the right flank.  Stockholm defenders could not make a quick challenge but fortunately for Stockholm they had Swiss Cheese in goal ready to make his first crucial save of the match.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 13:
Staring from Stockholm goal end the team moved the ball between Stotch and Wouters.  Wouters would make a run to the middle of the pitch and find himself a lot of space by using some fast dribbling.  A nice through ball to Adomonis near the left side of the box and Stockholm had themselves in a dangerous area.  Adamonis would try a low pass quickly to Bubblegum who looked to be in a great spot to shoot.  His shot would be too short of the net though and not get the team the lead. Stockholm has had some chances but need to still be carful this game.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 17:
Stockholm too good control of the ball for the first few minutes and look to get setup through the midfield area.  A nice long ball lobbed to Wouters on the far right flank would see Sydney players begin to scramble.  Wouters uses his left boot for a hard low pass to the middle of the box and finds Dono is a great open spot.  Dono's shot would be saved by the keeper but would rebound to Janson.  His quick reaction though would send the ball wide of the far post though.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 21:
With a free kick about 15 yards outside the box, it would be Dono of Stockholm taking it.  The long cross didn't find his teammates and the Sydney City defender would head the ball down to his teammate and a counterattack was underway.  They initially looked to run down the left flank but make some quick one touch passes to the middle and found a player streaking towards the box.  Defenders quickly scrambled back and forced a quick shot from the striker who would hit the crossbar and a quick clearance by a Stockholm defender keeps the game score equal.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 25:
This time it was Sydney City launching a cross into the box and Stockholm started their own counterattack.  Wouters and Dono would move the ball quickly up to Bubblegum who could immediately see Adamonis streaking down the left side of the pitch.  A great through ball and Adamonis had a lot of space to attack from the left.  Adamonis made some fast moves but even faster was Bubblegum streaking towards the center to get open for a shot.  The shot would be blocked but found its way back to the feet of Adamonis quickly after.  He would blast a hard shot to the short side and force the keeper to make a tough save and put the ball out for a corner.  The first corner would find Bubblegum but be send out for an additional corner.  The 2nd corner would find Bubblegum once again and this time he would put the ball in the back of the net to finally get Stockholm their first goal of the match.
Score 1-0 Stockholm

Minute 29:
A Stockholm throw in the their opponents half would find Metalbeard with space to run down the right flank.  His initial cross attempt would be blocked by the Sydney City defender and kicked clear.  However Butters Stotch was in position to receive the ball and chose to continue the attacking play.  With a quick run all the way to the far corner he used his body position to fool the defender.  With a quick turn a right boot he crossed a long lobbed pass to the far side of the penalty box.  Marius Adamones would be the recipient and put header past the goalie with ease.  A nice cross and great finish by the Stockholm club.
Score 2-0 Stockholm

Minute 58:
After many corners on both ends of the pitch it would be Stockholm with a corner in the opponents end.  After a great shot from Janson the ball would be put wide and Janson himself elected to take the corner kick.  Sending the ball with a lobbed short pass it would find the head of Bubblegum for a great shot on net.  Unfortunetly it would only find the near post and bounce away.  Felix Dono would be the recipient of the juicy rebound and blast a hard low shot easily past the team and goalkeeper.  Really great to see Dono get a goal off a corner kick because he is usually the player taking them.  Great goal from great teamwork.
Score 3-0 Stockholm

Minute 60:
Shortly after going up 3-0 the Stockholm club looked to fall asleep at the wheel a bit.  The Sydney City club was passing the ball with ease and not getting pressured well by the Stockholm defenders.  After a brief run down the right flank the Sydney City player would turn back and send the ball back to the top of the penalty box area.  A really well placed shot by the striker would hit the post initially but still managed to go in.  A nice goal by legend player Sydney City player Shinji Kaido but it would be called back for offside by the ref.
Score 3-0 Stockholm

Minute 65:
A throw in started by Metalbeard would lead to some great passing short by Stockholm who would find Metalbeard with a bit of space near the top of the box.  A quick run down his left side and Metalbeard would deliver a great strike but it would unfortunately hit the crossbar and be cleared away.
Score 3-0 Stockholm

Minute 69:
With a few more corner chances Stockholm was looking more dangerous with each attempt.  Dono would be the player delivering the corner kick that would initially find a Sydney City defender but it would be Bubblegum using their head to keep the ball alive in the box.  Stockholm legend player Juha Jarvinen would control the ball from his head and down to his feet for a strike past the goalkeeper.  A great assist by Bubblegum keeping that ball in a dangerous spot for their club.
Score 4-0 Stockholm

Minute 70:
Shortly after conceding a goal the Sydney City players looked to get back on the attacking side.  With a lot of one touch and two touch passes the players were finding space around the Stockholm defenders.  A through ball to the right flank would have Stockholm legend defender trying to cover his man but would fumble the touch on the ball.  A second Sydney City player would storm past both players and immediately attack the goal.  Stockholm goalkeeper Swiss Cheese had very little chance with his team defending poorly on this play.  Stockholm will be upset with themselves by preventing their star goalie from getting another clean sheet for the season.
Score 4-1 Stockholm

Minute 78:
Swiss Cheese would start the play using a short pass to his defender.  Each player would make a pass like it was planned well in advance and find a teammate with space.  Wouters would cut back then send a through ball to Dono who was running down the right side.  Dono would run the ball all the way to the goal line before lobbing a pass over the goalkeepers head.  Marcus Adamones would be left alone and make a great header to beat the goalkeeper for his 2nd goal of the match.
Score 5-1 Stockholm

Final Game Notes: The Stockholm club looks better every game and it was nice to see that continue in game 10.  Adamones would pick up 2 goals tonight and Bubblegum would add 1 goal and 1 assist to their dominating season.  This game was not the same test as they will face for the remainder of the season and the teams players need to be ready for a tough road to finish the year.  Confidence and commitment is really high in the Stockholm locker room and I think everybody is looking forward to seeing how they handle their next match opponent.

Stockholm Game 11 Recap, July 23 2026
Stockholm IK vs. Atletico Medellin

Game 11 Preview:
Stockholm has been on fire lately riding a four game winning streak and look to continue that momentum into game 11.  Their opponent tonight of Atletico Medellin will be much tougher and the team will need to be ready to match their high pace style of play.  Many players amongst the academy have been preparing for the upcoming draft but the Stockholm group is still heavily focused on finishing the season in a top position.  Stockholm is currently 3rd in the league and Atletico Medellin are in 6th place with 8 points separating the two clubs.  If Atletico Medellin secure a win tonight they will take the 5th place spot on goal differential.  And if Stockholm win tonight they will be only 1 point back of the 2nd place position in the league standings.

Stockholm lineup remains unchanged from last week and includes:
2 Strikers with Bubblegum and Janson up forward.
4 Midfield is Adamones and Wouters on the wings with Dono and Stotch in the middle.
4 Defense with 3 legend players and RB Metalbeard
In goal as always is Swiss Cheese

Atletico Medellin lineup would be:
2 strikers, Kang and The Frog
2 Wingers, Bajramovic and Gruber
2 Midfield, legend player on the left and Mcrae on the right side
4 Defense, with 2 legend players on left back and centerback alongside centerback Doto and right back Smith
In goal will be Deschamps

Stockholm is 4wins and 1loss and no draws in their past 5 games and are on a 4 game winning streak.
Atletico Medellin is 2wins, 2 losses, and 1draw in their past 5 games and are on a 2 game losing streak.

Match Details:
Minute 0:
Right from the opening kickoff Atletico Medellin players looked to get into their high pace of play.  They kept the ball in their own half for a total of 9 seconds before moving it past midfield.  On the right flank it would be Smith and Gruber using their fast attack strategy.  An interesting lobbed pass to the top of the box would find Kang who tries to head the ball over the Stockholm goalies head.  Cheese would make the save but could not handle the pass which looked to be headed out for a corner before Stockholm player Metalbeard got control once again before placing it for the goalie to kick it clear up to midfield.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 3:
Atletico Medellin goalkeeper would try to start the play using a short pass to his defenders.  But quickly a miscommunicated pass would see the pressure of Stockholm player Bubblegum who quickly got the ball to her teammate Dono.  With time and space Dono would streak forward and have a great chance on goal but the shot would be wide of the goal.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 6 and 7:
This was 2 minutes of chaos that must have had both coaches losing their minds.  It starts initially with Atletico Medellin making some great passes and some long crosses to switch sides of the pitch.  Then suddenly it would be Stockholm looking to counter only it would be intercepted by their opponents and go right back the other way.  Both teams seemed to be using the same strategy of counterattacks and it was just chaos. Finally it would be Wouters of Stockholm finding Janson for a through ball in on goal but the goalie Deschamps would make an excellent save and send the ball out for a corner kick.  The corner would find Butters Stotch for a great strike on goal but the keeper once again would send it out for a corner.  This would start the night of many corner kicks for both clubs.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 35:
With a lot of back and forth action the Atletico Medellin club had the ball in Stockholms area and it would knocked down to the feet of Kang for a great position to strike.  Fortunately for Stockholm their star goalie Cheese was in a better position to make the save and keep the game even.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 48:
Wouters of Stockholm would gather up a high ball and control it on the edge of the opponents penalty area.  With keeping his back to goal he made a great pass finding Butters Stotch at the top of the box ready to strike.  It was a good hard strike but there was too many defenders in the area and the ball was cleared quickly after.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 53:
This time it was Butters with the ball and making a great 1 touch through pass to teammate Wouters who would streak through on goal for a great chance.  Once again goalie Deschamps shut things down and took back control for his squad.
Score tied 0-0

Minute 73:
Atletico Medellin would have a series of corners before Stockholm would finally send the ball clear to get back some room on the pitch.  However when Atletico regained control they used the open space to find Bajramovic where he could get an excellent strike which is exactly what he charged forward and did.  Standing his ground and making what might be considered the save of year was Stockholm keeper Cheese who was able to get the ball out for another corner kick.
Score tied 0-0

Final Game Notes: Although the game didn't have any goals for either club I do believe both sides looked very good and put on a solid performance.  They seemed very evenly matched in both structure and play style.  There was a ton of chances that really looked like the game could break open at any moment but defenders and goalies were the ones to steal the show tonight.  With a combined 46 attempted shots and 16 on target the goalies had to earn their paycheck and they certainly did.  Overall Stockholm had more shots, possession and pass percentage but it still could not get them any more than a draw in this game.  Both goalies Deschamps and Cheese were easy picks for players of that match for me, and have certainly raised their draft stock after this great performance.
Final Score Stockholm 0, Atletico Medellin 0

Players of the match:
Stockholm:
Bubblegum, 7.3 rating
Metalbeard, 7.9 rating, 9 miles run (most in game)
Swiss Cheese GK, 7.6 rating, stopped all 6 shots on target

Atletico Medellin players of the match:
McRea, 7.5 rating
Smith, 7.0 rating
Deschamps GK, 7.4 rating, stopped all 10 shots on target

Butters top player picks for game 11:
Stockholm - Swiss Cheese GK
Sydney City - Bastien Deschamps GK
