As of this morning the academy season is officially over. Jakarta came out on top (which was something we already knew as we wrapped up the title with one game to go), after leading the way for most of the season. I thought it would be fun to do a bit of a season wrap up this week and talk through my stats and what not, but the index is still 3 games behind. Amongst the games missing are some of my best including my only goal and a Player of The Match, so I will hold off and maybe do that for my PT next week. Last week I went out of the way to praise the team and our leader Xyan, but I want to re-iterate how great it was to be on Jakarta this season. It may not have always been the most active locker room, but it was fun and I’m glad I got to experience it.
The Academy chat seemed to become more lively today, with people congratulating each other and talking more than the rest of the season combined just about, which was nice to see. This is a somewhat small class compared to others and I think that shows in the amount of people chatting on the discord. One fun thing to come out of the discord today, was the unofficial All Star teams. With such a small draft class it was almost inevitable that most of us would be chosen for one of the two teams, but it is still a really great initiative from Mr Ginger. I am excited to see how the game plays out and if my player can manage to play well against the cream of the crop from the academy. This should be the toughest competition I’ve faced all season.
I think all sim leagues should have some form of all pro or all star games, it gives the users something fun to look forward to and brag about at the end of the season. It is especially good in the SSL for filling the gap at the end of the Academy season, as the prospects wait to be drafted.
Other things I am looking forward to in the next week are the reveal of the branding for the other expansion org. I couldn’t be happier with how ours turned out and all the positive feedback the masses have had. I know nothing about the other expansion org though, so I will be like everyone else when this one comes out, eagerly scouring the forums for the post announcing the locations and branding. Exactly a week from the time I am writing this media is the day of the expansion draft, so in one week from now we will have completed that and be welcoming a bunch of new faces to the org. I couldn’t be more excited to finally have some players and to start building the foundations of our culture. This offseason really is about surrounding ourselves with the right people, establishing our Locker Room as a fun place to be and setting ourselves up for the long term. If we can do that, then the wins and losses will take care of themselves a little bit.
