Leonardo Stone has completed his rookie season in the minors, and many would consider it to have been somewhat of a disappointment. While Cairo was in the race for promotion for the entire season before being mathematically eliminated in the final game, Cairo was on the outside looking in, and Leo’s shortcomings were a big reason as to why. Leo had a below average match grade for his team in the majority of his matches, and as the starting striker, this often led to poor results. Only 3 goals on the season for Stone certainly leaves room to be desired for a starting striker. Alas, Stone is a hard worker, and we can already see some of his offseason training coming to fruition. Perhaps in a new scheme with (some) new teammates next season will lead to different, and better results.
In the most recent annual S26 all star game, we saw some of what Stone is capable of, as Stone proved to be an elite and efficient goal scorer. With 0.9 XG, Stone was able to score 2 goals, and they were two beautiful finishes. They were not just tap-ins, and Stone was able to make the goalie do a split on both goals after finishing both goals on the far post. Clearly, whatever he did from the conclusion of the season till now has proved to be worth it. Maybe those TMZ reporters that saw him training with the Tibetan monks were actually telling the truth… But regardless, the sky is the limit for the future of this young prospect, and many are saying Leo has his eyes set on being the most improved player in the minors next season. Only time will be able to tell us if his goal is realistic or not.
