Although last season was disappointing for Inter London, Mendes has already put it in the past. The goal for this upcoming season is to make it back to Division One. The good thing is Inter London did it two seasons ago, and as we pretty much have the same team, we have the experience and know what it takes to complete the task.
The off-season talk with management was rather positive with Mendes. They are very pleased with his progress as he continues to earn and improve, becoming one of the best players in his draft class. He improved his goal tally to three, but more importantly, his pass completion percentage also increased. There is talk that if he continues to get better, this could be his last season with London, and a promotion to the major team could be on the cards. There are a few available spots on the team, and Mendes is chomping at the bit to get involved.
There was one major instruction when it came to this off-season. Mendes' physicals, primarily pace and acceleration, need to be at their maximum. He's been doing extra sessions with his trainers to really work on his explosiveness and cardio. They are looking for Mendes to really take control of the midfield this season and dominate. Mendes has built some very good chemistry with Pope Francis, and they should be among the best partnerships for next season.
As confidence builds, Mendes will be looking to add a few more traits to his bag. A few options that intrigue him are upgrading his weak foot (as his left foot isn't the best), running with the ball more often through the middle of the field, and shooting from distance. As his attributes will continue to improve, he can become one of the best well-rounded midfielders in the league.
