The World Simulation Football Classic

As the year slowly heads towards it's conclusion, we’re excited to unveil the 2027 World Simulation Football Classic! In the WSFC, SSL players trade their club kits for regional colors, making new friends in the WSFC region channels and squaring off against familial rivals in a whole new way. This marks the third official tournament and the 16 regions are looking fit for fight!

All regions are led by Regional Manager(s) (at most two), which is a temporary manager position open to all users within that region to apply for, whose responsibility it is to select the tournament squad consisting of 14 players, submit tactics throughout the tournament and drive engagement with the region's users. Regional Transfers

If you have gone into the WSFC tracker, found on the SSL Portal, you might have seen that some regions have an abundance of players available while others have less so. The regional eligibility is determined by the nation selected at creation and there are definitely some nations that are more popular than others. In order to help users within regions feel like they have a fighting chance at playing in the WSFC and give smaller regions the ability to register a competitive roster, the WSFC transfer system will be open prior to the final registration date of the tournament rosters.

The transfer rules that were implemented last year are still present and as a reminder, the following players are eligible for a once per career WSFC transfer:

An outfield player that has not been rostered (including preliminary rosters) in the WSFC for a region
A goalkeeper from a region with 2 or more non-Academy and non-retiring active status goalkeepers

Regional transfers are also regulated by the number of transfer slots, based on the number of active, non-retiring outfield players at the start of the season before the tournament takes place.

11 or fewer actives: 0 outfield slots out
12 - 14 actives: 1 outfield slots out
15 - 22 actives: 3 outfield slots out
23 - 33 actives: 5 outfield slots out
34 or more actives: 10 outfield slots out

Transfers are also regulated in that the same region cannot transfer more than 2 outfield players from the same region.

In the case of a region not being able to select a full squad after the transfer period has ended, there will be a period of emergency transfers of inactive players, the same as the current transfer regulations.

The weeks and months leading up to the tournament start on January 5th is detailed below:

Week 254: Open call for regional manager(s)
Week 258: Deadline for applications
Week 260: Regional managers assigned
Week 262: Preliminary squad selections
Week 263: WSFC Transfers open
Week 267: WSFC Transfers close and WSFC Squad selection deadline
Week 269: Start of the WSFC (Monday, January 11, 2027)
