Yannick Visser's Sophomore Season Recap
#1
Yannick Visser had high hopes entering his second season with Tokyo, following a rather successful rookie year. Now that we find ourselves 18 games into season 4 of the SSL, it is a good time to look back on how Visser has done in his sophomore season.

The team opened with a disappointing loss to eventual title challengers CF Catalunya, and it can be said that Visser's effort in this match was rather pedestrian. He was not involved in any way in either of his team's goals, put forward a pathetic shot that amounting to an xG of only 0.07, as well as completing only 75% of his passes. Certainly not how Visser was hoping his season to start.

Visser would become much more involved in Tokyo's successes after their opener, when they went on a run of 7 consecutive victories. On top of collecting an impressive 4 assists over this run of games, Visser's overall game was also much improved. He completed a completed a career high of 8 successful crosses in a 3-0 victory over Buenos Aires, and managed only his second man of the match performance against Accra. Since that run, Visser has cooled off a bit, but Tokyo has kept winning enough to put them on the top of the standings with only 4 games remaining.

At this point in the season, Visser is sitting at a respectable 5 assists, which includes an absolute stunner in a recent victory over their rivals in Seoul. He also sits third in the league in successful crosses at 77, as well as fifth in key passes at 73. It is clear that Visser is developing into an elite playmaker on the right side of the pitch for Tokyo. He will hope to continue to improve on these performances as Tokyo plays four more crucial games with the title race heating up.
