He has been named to the Spain National Team. Ecstatic, this is the biggest honour he has been waiting for, the opportunity to represent his country at the highest level. Growing up, Torres watched his heroes play for this team in the European Championships and the World Cup. He has always dreamed of joining the ranks and being one of the best strikers on the international scene. Now, it was finally coming to fruition.

The first thing that Torres did once hearing about the news was to call up his rival Budget Busquets. He intended to make fun of Busquets for not making the team. However, he had been included in the roster as well! Although, Busquets was unsure of whether he would accept the call. This was considering he didn't really associate with Spain. Torres told him to show up so he can prove to him how much Busquets sucks compared to him. "There's only one superstar that came from this corner of the world and it's me".

Torres then called his family and friends and brought them all over to Cairo City. After the hours-long flight for his family and friends to reunite with Torres, he decided to take everyone out for a celebratory dinner. "Don't worry, Cairo City gave me a massive contract this summer, so I can afford a lot of stuff like this", he said with a smile. His family and friends enjoyed a five course dinner at the most expensive restaurant in Cairo City. Afterward, they went on a tour of the town, seeing the things that had changed since they first visited the town, after Torres was drafted. Torres' family and friends stayed the night and caught up with each other. Then they flew back home the next day.

Torres started training even harder, now that he knew there was another stage for him to showcase his skills. He now has tthe goal of scoring the most goals once international competition reopens. "It'll be a nice addition to my SSL MVP trophy". Torres is very excited, so we'll see how his international career pans out.

APPROVED

And honestly, he doesn’t really care much for it. It is not like the chinese national team is any good.
I mean, just look at the roster of this team.

In goal we have Yan Junling and Wang Dalei, two goaltenders in their thirties, together good for 70 caps.

Defensewise we have another few old players like Zhang Linpeng with 92 caps and Yu Dabao with 65 caps (but he did score 19 goals as a defenseman). Zheng Zheng, Wang Shenchao are other oldies on feense. While Liu Yang, Gao Zhunyi, Deng Hanwen and Li Ang are all a few years younger.

Joining Kuai Liang on midfield are golden oldies Hao Junmin, Wu Xi and Zhang Zizhe. So they could definitly use some young talent here. There is a lot of respect for the older players in China, so the youngesters dont really get a chance in the spotlight. Hopefully Liang will be the exception there.

Lastly we have the forwards, the only line where we have some younger players starting regularly in 25 year old Zhang Yuning and 27 year old Wei Shihao. But once again the oldest forward played the most, this is Wu Lei who is 30 and scored 27 times in 79 caps.
So be honest, how much of them did you know? Not much for Kuai Liang to be excited about right? Just look at the results of China in the past
When looking at the Fifa World Cup, the team only qualified once and that was in 2002. They played 3 games, scored zero times and got scored on nine times. Nothing to write home about if you ask me.

When checking the Asian Cup, they also never won, but they did manage to become second in both 1984 and 2004. But in the tournaments since, they ended 9th twice, 7th once and 6th once. They are qualified automaticaly as hosts for 2023, so lets hope a home crowd will do them good.

Kuai Liang will of course accept the invite, out of love for his country, but he isn’t as excited as someone from the top countries would be.

APPROVED

His dad used to read his stories at bedtime of all of the Polish soccer legends ever to grace the futbol pitch. Ever since then, he has worked toward trying to bring glory and excitement in everything he does as a player. From his seemingly never ending workouts to his selfless community outreach, Taka is a true breath of fresh air is an increasingly negative culture. He wants to lead by example and help both the veterans and the younger players in their quest for a cup, a medal, and anything else they can obtain by winning. Tiki is unselfish and has proven over the past 5 seasons that he can lead a team with his play. He doesn't care about scoring; he wants to be a facilitator that distributes the the ball to his teammates. For him, the glory is in winning and seeing his squad achieve positive heights. He could easily sit in front of the net and score goal upon goal if that is what he wanted to do. But he is not like that. He is more concerned about teaching teammates the way to play their positions. He is the ultimate player coach, and that is a good reason that he is the perfect player for Poland. They need additional leadership out on the field, and Tiki Taka provides an abundance of those attributes. He listens, advises, communicates, and delivers messages in a way that everyone can understand. The other national players rally behind Taka, as he is a shining example of what a player really should be. He knows gaining national attention as a team is a marathon and not a sprint. Does Tiki Taka want to win it all for Poland? Of course he does, but he will also be content if everyone improves their game. There will always be a stupid mistake, or a bad bounce. You have to bounce back from both of those things. If you dwell on the past, it would be impossible to succeed in the future. Poland has their sights set on being great, and Taka plans to lead the way.

APPROVED

He originally wanted to represent Catalonia, but SSL does not recognize them and thus, Spain could be his only option. This broke his heart as he always dreamed of representing his people; his culture; his home. On top of that, his relationship with Spain was already complicated enough. Will the Spanish supporters treat him as one of their own? What about when he has an off game? If the team plays poorly, will he be the scapegoat? And finally, will the Catalan supporters accept his decision? What might seem like a simple decision for many, seems a lot more complex for Budget.

Franco Torres, Budget main rival was always called up to the national team. When he called Budget to rub it in his face, Budget just threw it right back at him: "I already got called up buddy!" So mainly, it was his rivalry with Franco Torres, one that can probably be dated back to S2, that spurred Budget on. He reckoned, he could become the greatest ever midfielder to wear the red. He wanted more than anything, to stand out and show Spain that they needed Catalan footballers too. That, without us, they couldn't be their best.

Budget Busquets always wanted to show a pathway for others like fellow Catalan and teammate Jaume Vila who is a left back for CF Catalunya. Vila himself, looks poised to be called up to the national team if he can continue to develop playing for his hometown. It will be a wonder if we'll see more Catalans join the league. As it stands, there are 4 Spanish/Calatan players: Franco Torres, Sadio Garcia, Jaume Vila, and Budget Busquets himself. Franco Torres is one of the league's best strikers with the S1 golden boot, toty, and mvp award to his name. Meanwhile, Budget Busquets has racked up 3 toty awards. Jaume Vila may not have an individual award to his name, but has been nominated for roty and toty in S3.

At Spain's latest press conference Budget Busquets gave an honest look at what went into his decision: "Look, I was disappointed not to represent Catalonia, but the Spanish FA and I had a long chat with each other. They really want me to be a leader for this team and lead a new generation of players. I want to be a role model for all footballers around the world and to be able to be a role model for Catalans. I want to be a CF Catalunya legend, but to be a legend for Spain would be a great achievement. Hopefully we can become a powerhouse nation and bring glory to everyone across Spain. Thank you everyone for you time and I look forward to being apart of the national set up for a long time."

CODE

477 words

APPROVED

Alright, something is up, Rashford Answers.

"Welcome to the Copper Bullets"

------------

Rashford couldnt believe the call he got, this was a dream come true, one that as a young boy, he always imagined the day that he might be able to represent Zambia alongside some of his closest friends. Later that evening he got messages from Bobby, Jarrow, Rigmarole, Allister, and Tightpants that they all were selected to join the squad as well.

Rashford is beyond excited, having shared a field with a few players on the squad, he knew that the team had a good chance to atleast give a few of the larger nations a run for their money. During his time in Junior competitions, Zambia was always the fiesty underdog that could punch above their weight. With a population of only 19 million, the Copper Bullets were never, in any competition, thought to be a serious threat to the likes of England, Spain, and the United States. But time and time again Zambia showed up and gave each of those nations a run for their money.

For Rashford, he was also heavily excited to reunite with Tightpants, one of the few two sport athletes whom he was able to share the ice with both in Newfoundland and briefly in Winnipeg. This call-up would mark the first time ever that the two would get to share the football pitch, and given they were both Centre Mid's, they were excited to be able to see what kind of damage the two brothers could do in a competition that seemed perfect for the feisty nation to challenge on the World Stage

APPROVED

It was an amazing feeling to get the call recently. I had anticipated it, because I knew I have been playing well. I knew that some day that day would come, but it still felt a bit unreal. Only after the call I realized that I will really get to wear the beautiful orange kit I had grew up drooling over.

I do not know a lot of the other guys personally, but it will be great to play with some new teammates. I am sure I will also get a bunch of new friends, as I have heard the team spirit is very good. It will also be an interesting challenge to learn a new kind of playing style.
I have seen them play a lot, so hopefully that helps with the transition.

When I was a kid, the Dutch team had some amazing players. Edwin van der Sar, Jaap Stam, Patrick Kluivert, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie, Dennis Bergkamp, Marc Overmars and many others. And Edgar Davids with his orange glasses, that were cool as heck. They were some of the best players in the world, and all extremely skilled. I even remember playing Football Manager as a kid, often signing all these guys as the first step when I took over any team.

I made some plans already for the debut. When I will play my first competitive national match, I will invite a bunch of friends and family to watch that. All the people who donated their time and effort to make me a better player and a better person. It was very valuable, and I know that I was not always very thankful of that, or at least I was not able to properly show my thankfulness. The shirt I will wear in that game will be signed and auctioned, and whatever the price ends up being, I will triple that and give it to my childhood teams. That is the least I can do!

APPROVED

While he does keep up with family and a few close friends, he has grown to consider Australia his second home (and pretty darn close to his first!) and he hadn’t given a ton of thought to playing on the United States National Team. Of course the phone call came in the middle of the night local time and George was responsibly asleep. Upon waking he saw that he had a voice mail from an unknown number, but couldn’t get to it until later.
Imagine his surprise when it was a message from the US coach letting him know he had been selected. George returned the call, expecting to have to leave a message since it was late now in the US, but the coach answered and George had a nice conversation with him. George was even more excited to find that his Sydney City teammates Superior Athlete and Certified Problem were also on the team. He checked in with both of them to let them know he’d accepted the invite to be on the team. At least he’d have someone to chill with on the long trips back and forth between the United States and Australia.
George then checked in with his family back in the states to let them know he’d be there a bit more often (of course his mother was extra happy) and that he’d been chosen to represent the United States national team. As the days got closer to his return to America to train with his new (and old) teammates to prepare to play together, George found himself getting more excited and admitted to himself that perhaps he missed his home country more than he thought. Of course he had to set up plane tickets, game tickets and hotels for his family and friends because he wanted them to get a chance to see him play.
Looking back, George realized that he’d come a long way since his youth in New York City and that even though his professional career had seen him on teams based far away that the United States was truly home for him.

389 words

APPROVED

That's all well and good, of course, and wearing her country's jersey is of course a great honor and would be a great thing in and of itself. But to Helena, it's also a chance to carry on a family legacy. Helena's mother played for Sweden on the national stage for over a decade, and while the Söderberg family has no shortage of natural athletes, Helena is the only one to have pursued a career playing this specific sport (she has siblings who play hockey and basketball as well). Ever since Helena was small she has dreamed of following in her mother's footsteps, and the two of them have always shared a special bond as a result of that. When her twin, Cecilia, was off at the gym doing whatever they do in basketball, Helena and her mother would go out in the yard and practice all of the soccer stuff instead (yes, that's the technical term). Eventually, Helena headed abroad to the United States to begin to train seriously with coaches at a private school she attended throughout high school, but she has never forgotten where she came from, so when she got the call to come and play for the national team, she could not have been more excited. The first thing she did was call her mother back at home and tell her the exciting news. Now, looking towards the future, Helena is excited to see if she can build a career as exciting as her mother's. Playing for more than ten years is probably a tall order, but she works very hard, so she is hoping she will further establish the Söderberg name as an elite dynasty or whatever. Looking at the roster of Swedish players in the SSL, it appears that she will be playing with such illustrious countrymen as Slatin Imbrovick, Patrik Björkas, Henrik Lind, and others. On the whole, she hopes she will make her country and her family proud, and also maybe learn a thing or two from teammates she ordinarily doesn't get to play with.

APPROVED

As far as he knew, the league they played for wasn't affiliated with FIFA but apparently, that was given the green light after both sides made a point to not get in each other's way. Either that or, what was most likely, the United States needed the extra firepower given their regular national team was prone to sucking a tad. Whatever way it was, Squall Vercetti and some other SSL players were called up to defend the Canadian national team in a thing called the "Tournoi de Paris", a tournament featuring sides that were apparently benefited by the new rules.

And so, here he was, sitting on a bench inside the locker room of AS Paris' stadium in front of a jersey with the name Squall and the number 13. There was one catch - instead of a green and orange combo, he stared at what was a mostly normal red that happened to be borrowed from the Maple Leaf in Canada's flag. Against the light, he could see a ridiculous amount of patterns inspired by what was either street graffiti or Inuit art that just happened to be in a darker shade of red so you had to look really close to see it for what it was. The name wasn't too much of a shock, he had already seen the news that the Canadian Soccer Association wasn't keen on using the family name linked with mafia activities and, to be quite frank, he didn't care for it either. He was still Squall, the Vercetti was just a coincidence from the powers that be.

He managed to dress fast, wearing a bandana that was essentially forced by the lovely people from the federation with the sayings "GO CANADA" in some 70s font that would hold his hair back a bit and soon found himself a familiar sight. Helena, his teammate, was now decked in blue and yellow. Yep, they were playing Sweden in the opening round.

Söderberg: Hey, Squall! Excited about the game?
Vercetti: You want a legit answer?
Söderberg: ...Uh, sure.
Vercetti: Does this look like the sort of thing someone excited to play would use?

He then pointed to the bandana, briefly turning it inside out so as to not show the words.

Söderberg: Heh, guess not.
Vercetti: And if they play that damned Bluegrass song again I swear you won't find me in Tokyo, for I'll be in jail.

(422 words)

APPROVED
