Knight’s Sophomore Season
#1
We are now halfway through Season 6 of the SSL, so it’s time to take a look at how Buenos Aires Adam Knight’s sophomore season is going. Through 5 games, Knight has improved in some areas but regressed in others. Let’s take a look:

Passing: Knights passing percentage is up a small amount from 89.76 his first season to 91.61% so far this season. This is a small increase in success rate but is made more impressive by the fact Knight is passing much more this season. He is on pace for 590 successful passes on 644 attempts, far more than the 403 successes on 449 attempts his rookie season. This is great, however:

Knight’s Final Ball is Missing: One huge area of regression from Knight is crossing. Last season Knight was completing a solid 29.79% of crosses (14/47). This season they’re on pace to finish 2/36, or 5.56%. That’s a huge drop, and likely plays a large role in Knight’s key passes dropping from 15 to 8. He will need to clean this up in the 2nd half of the season.

Heading: As a rookie, Knight went 40/51 on headers, good for a 78.43% success rate. Not terrible, but not great. This season, Knight is on pace to go 70/72, winning these duels 97.22% of the time. This is a huge jump and is a good cover to one of his weaker skills last seasons.

Defense: In general, Knight is on pace to be a better defender this season than he was as a rookie, looking to finish with 36 interceptions and 54 clearances, up from 21 interceptions and 40 clearances his first season. Knight is also winning 85.71% if his tackles, up from 77.27%. This increase in efficiency may be due to a dip in attempts, as Knight is on pace for 14 attempts this season, only 66% of his rookie season mark.

All in all, it’s been a solid season for the young left back who looks to help the Buenos Aires squad achieve promotion this season.
