Player Page
Career PT #1

Looking back at Matthew Mayhem’s rookie season, we can see that he laid the foundation for what has so far been a relatively successful start to his career. Mayhem joined Athenai in S4 and saw quality minutes immediately. Excited to get his career started and willing to listen to and learn from anyone who would offer guidance, he jumped into his training head first and began working to improve. He totaled just shy of 2,000 minutes in his 22 appearances for the club, and averaged a 6.68 rating. While he generally focuses on his defensive skills, he was able to notch one assist and carried an impressive 91.24% passing in his first season in the league. He also won over 75% of the headers that he attempted as well as an 81% success rate on his tackle attempts. Mayhem recorded 44 interceptions and 188 clearances on the season, but did have a few mistakes along the way. One mistake leading to a goal and 1 yellow card were the low lights for Mayhem personally. Mayhem’s time in Athenai would only last for 1 season, but it was massively instrumental in putting him on the right path for long term success.

Athenai finished mid table on the year, but the defensive unit was in the top 4 for goals allowed, thanks in part to Mayhems contributions. The team was led by Deedee Yoker, Henrik Link, Carl Labovitch, and Zinedine Gintonic as well as a strong supporting cast. Mayhem attributes much of his rookie year success to his defensive partner Henrik Lind, both on and off the field. The rest of the team, especially the defense, were incredibly helpful in allowing Mayhem to settle into his spot on the team, but Lind instilled in Mayhem the confidence needed to perform at the highest levels of the game, and even encouraged him to get his coaching license to look into potential management opportunities in the league, which Mayhem did step into the following season. Time will tell if Mayhem and Athenai have their paths cross again in the future, but he will always be greatful for the opportunity that he was given there.

CODE

360 words

APPROVED

CPT #1
Player page

The rookie season for Pork Tenderloin sure was a doozy. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect for my rookie season as I really didn't know much about soccer coming into it. To be completely honest, I still don't know a ton about soccer now. I've been doing my best to learn and improve as time goes on and actually become a good soccer player. The season is surprisingly short here in terms of games, seeing as Tenderloin only played 9 games total. I'm pretty happy with my performance overall, I think I was a good defender this season for the Seoul Mythic F.C. Some highlights of my stats include 76 clearances, 19 interceptions, and 55 successful headers. I think the type of defender I want Pork Tenderloin to be is one that can read the play well, intercept and/or block passes from the opposing team, and get the ball up field to the attacking players. I don't particularly care about being flashy or contributing to a lot of goals on my end. I have a role to play on the team and that role is defense. I want to be a big hunk of pork that will wrestle the ball away from you and make sure that it ends up in front of a teammate somewhere up field.

Now, of course you can't expect a hunk of pork to be the smartest player on the field of course. He's a lot of muscle, not a lot of brains. So I think it is to be expected that there will be some mistakes. Some fouls and some yellow cards are honestly just a part of the process of making mistakes and improving and getting better as a player. And that goes for the rest of the team as well. The team ended near the bottom of the standings this season, with a 3-2-5 record. Not great but not awful by my standards. I think that we're also a pretty young team and have a ton of potential to climb the ranks as we improve year after year. It was only the first season for Pork Tenderloin and that is the first of many to come.

CODE

366 words

APPROVED

Bottom of the projected standings, a lot of young players looking to be established, lack of direction, the stage was set for a very challenging rookie season for Bismo, and boy was it that.

With surprisingly little interest from all teams other than Montréal, Bismo was dead set on proving he had his place, prove them wrong for making him a simple foot note in free agency, an afterthought. His quality would shine, he was aware. When first team manager Big Newff had him sign his name at the bottom of a rookie deal worth 2,5 million annually, the Funyuns family gasped in happiness! It was go time, business face on.

On the very first game, he showed why he should be talked about more. Despite tough opposition, playing promotion favorites A.S Paris, Funyuns opened his assist account, helping his team score their only goal of the game. With an impressive 92.75% pass completion, 2 shots, 2 tackles won and a 7.3 rating to round it out, Bismo showed to the world that he meant business and that given the time, he would be the CM to rule all CM’s and run the SSL.

As much as the story would’ve been good to say that he kept this up and then some for the remainder of the season, his performances could not keep a poor Montréal side afloat and his averages would flutter out. Despite tough showings as the season progressed and an early cup exit, flashes of brilliance in Funyun’s game had fans excited to see what the future would be holding for the young man. At the end of the day, with a single assist to show for his efforts, Bismo would have to find solace in a 6.98 rating and a 90.87% pass completion rating, with a solid 13 successful tackles to show for, all in 10 games of effort.

Despite not getting the net to tremble from a shot of his, he can look at the experience and adversity faced and inspire future play, inspire a winning mentality in the club and keep working hard to reach excellence.

(367 words)

APPROVED

He had amazing scouting conversations with all the managers that had reached out to him, but there was one that really caught his eye. Both managers of Tokyo Sports Club had reached out to Caleb, with the idea of them needing a striker in the near future. Both managers seemed super excited to have the chance to talk to Caleb, and it seemed that both liked him a lot. The draft comes and goes, and Caleb was taking 10th overall by, you guessed it, Tokyo Sports Club. This is truly one of the best moments in Caleb’s life by far. He loved talking with the managers and he believes he will be a great fit for the team. Caleb had hoped on the plane from Boston to Los Angeles, and then from Los Angeles to Tokyo. Once he arrived at the airport, one of the managers had met him there to bring him to the locker room to meet the team. Caleb got along with everyone very quickly and knew he wanted to be here forever. Pre-season comes and goes, and Caleb shows the world what potential he has, boasting an amazing pre season. Regular season rolls around, and Caleb has a slow start, but then he picks it up, ending the season with some solid stats. He finished the season with 5 Goals, 4 Assists, a 5.73 xG and 1 Player of the Match. Caleb has a lot of goals in mind for himself, but he was really pushing for that rookie of the year award. He thinks that he has a really good argument to win it for S6, but only time will tell. He doesn’t know a ton of rookies who had done as well as him but he could easily be proved wrong. But all in all, Caleb believes he had a great rookie season and cannot wait to see what the future holds, being himself and what he will achieve, and he is super pumped to help Tokyo reach another championship title.

CODE

357 words

APPROVED

#1 Biography
Tom Pedersen

Tom Pedersen was, to his own belief, surprisingly selected by Montreal United as number 10 overall in the season 5 draft. It was an eagerly waiting Tom Pedersen that attended the draft not knowing if he would be picked at all. Going so early came as a huge surprise.Tom Pedersen thought he would be picked by Buenos Aires at number 11 at the earliest, but thought he would go in the second round if anything.

Tom Pedersens first season with Montreal United did not go as planned. The goal for the season was promotion, but in the end it was a failure as Montreal ended up with too few points to achieve promotion.

Tom Pedersen has played nine games on the right wing back and he played ok. His average rating this season was 6,86 in league matches and 6,21 in the two cup matches. The first one is ok and the last one is a result of meeting a very good Hollywood team. From those nine games that Montreal played that season three were won and one was lost. The five others were draws. So even if Montreal played really well that season they simply were not good enough at finishing off their games. And that red card Montreal got after 15 minutes in the last game was devastating. A point there would have changed everything. Tom contributed with two assists during those nine games and even one in the cup matches. And he also had 21 key passes and created 5 chances. A bit more oomph on top and there could’ve been more assists. His passing percentage was 88,17 and two of seven shots hit the target even if none went in. Tom Pedersen ran 127,4 km during the league matches which was second most on the team.

After the season Tom Pedersen pledged his future to Montreal by signing a brand new two year deal at 3 millions a season and was told that he would be Montreal United’s left back the coming season.

A happy Tom Pedersen looks to the future with hope of great success and a great time at Montreal United.

Words: 362

APPROVED

Che Guevara Player Page
Career PT #1

CODE

380 words

Che Guevara came into his rookie season having been lucky enough to be drafted by a team with all of the potential in the world. Buenos Aires, a city only a couple of hundred kilometers from where he was born (Rosario), was one of the top 3 teams on his list. Upon arriving he loved the locker room. The nature of the group was laid back and encouraging. For someone who had never really planned on playing professionally that was exactly what Guevara needed. He slotted in at left center back right away and never looked back.

His rookie season was one mostly about learning to play the professional game. While the mindset and the talent is there, the the technical was not yet. The coaches worked incredibly hard with him between matches to take care of that but over the course of the season the slow and heavy marking defender transformed into a fast paced, still heavy marking defender that can launch the midfielders onto the offensive with some well time passes.

As a team we ended the season with a dismal 3-4-3 record, but there was a lot of hope for us. Being 2nd to last in the standings got us a really great draft position to help us build on top of and a lot of the young players alongside Guevara were learning the ropes by the end of the season. Despite the record we also ended with the 2nd best goal differential in the league. The games we lost we close and the games we won were blowouts. It just shows that we are a far better team than our record showed, we just have to make our chances count and not let up key goals.

The highlight of Che's season was the team's last game against União São Paulo where he had his highest expected goals for of the season and he had his highest match rating for the entire season. Offense has never really been his goal, he cares a lot more about being a stalwart defender, but having two key passes, two key headers and 11 clearances is totally huge. A performance not just for the season but one that fans will look back on as a sign of great things to come.

APPROVED

PT 1: PT 1

It is now just 1 season ago that Chicken was picked up by expansion side Red Star Laos, and soon after playing his first ever game in the SSL in the first ever game from Red Star Laos with a 2-2 draw against Adowa Accra, and a amazing start in the debut gaming scoring 1 gaining an 8.1 average rating and the MOTM in the first ever Red Star Laos game. Following this first game it didn’t go that well losing 3-1 against A.C. Romana and losing 5-0 to CF Catalunya in the cup. Following this came the 2nd (and in hindsight last) point in the league drawing 0-0 to montreal. Meanwhile the next 2 games where a 2-1 loss in the cup to A.C. Romana and a 4-0 loss to CA Buenos Aires. In the last cup match against division 1 team FC Kaapstad where Chicken showed his best performance with a 8.2, getting a goal and thereby helping Red Star Laos in their first and only win in their first season beating Kaapstad 4-2. After this match there were 3 more games using this same tactic that went less than stellar losing 8-0 to AS Paris, 3-1 to Reykjavik, and 12-3 to Seoul (where Chicken managed to score again in the league after not participating to any goals since the first matchday). The match afterwards was a 5-2 loss to A.C. Romana where Chicken got a goal, and his first (and only) assist of his debut season. After this there were only losses losing 2-1 (Accra), 4-0 (Montréal), 4-1 (AS Paris), 4-0 (CA Buenos Aires), 3-0 (Reykjavik), and to finish the season 4-2 (Seoul). During this losing streak Chicken did manage to score 2 more goals, 1 against AS Paris and 1 against Seoul MFC.
In Chicken’s debut season he played every single minute scoring 6 goals, and getting 1 assists with a highest rating of 8.2 against FC Kaapstad, and a lowest rating of 5.8 in the first 4-0 loss against CA Buenos Aires. With 2 points Red Star Laos also finished last in the 2nd division. Chicken during this season never managed to get a card despite making a foul in most of the matches. Let’s hope next season will feature some more wins like that majestic cup night against Kaapstad.

(385 word)

APPROVED

Indeed, the team was in a rebuilding process, and the roster was composed of many inexperienced player, Like toki wartooth. Toki didn't get any goals scored, such was not his role, playing at the back on the left side. The coach liked his defensive reliability overall as he was not getting beaten easily by his oppoentnts and would make sure they struggle to reach the goal when Toki was in front of them. Toki worked a lot on his cardio, and on his skill ability like dribbling, passing and crossing the ball across the field to launch a deep attack. Over the course of the season, the coach tought maybe Toki would be a better fit on the right side and on a more middle field spot. Over the course of the season, Toki had this in mind when he was training and would spend the offseason trying to practice on a new flank as he would need to adapt his playstyle completly. His inexperience owuld hurt him over the course of the season as he would sometimes miss plays because he would lack that lighting fast reactions and decide to move once the option was closed.

The locker room was great, Toki got to make a name for himself and develop camaraderie with his fellow teamates. He can see this core of player suceed and reach the highest honors. Many of them were also rookies this year and the progression should directly translate into wins for the next seasons. The addition of always more promising young talent thru the draft and GM BigNewf flair for promising prospects is also an encouraging factor when it comes to offseason training. Nothing like a team trending upwards to motive toki to run a few more miles and kick a few more balls to make sure he is fully ready for a second season in the greatest city in North America, Montreal. Lets take a bet that his second season will be an eye openener for the rest of the division that montreal doesnt mess around.

Even though he was recruited as a future prospect and backup, an early departure from Fara Dian, the guy playing his position, to Accra gave the young talent an unexpected run of games in the first team.

It was not just David who had unexpected good fortunes. Buenos Aires were beating teams left and right and found themselves in a position to compete for the Division 2 title in the 13th match of the season against Paris, who were currently first place. A win would not only secure promotion, but also give his team a one point lead with one match remaining. A golden opportunity. The match didn’t start well however, and they went into half time down two goals.

Team captain Aimo Tälli stepped up just a few minutes into the second half to give Buenos Aires a first goal and in an instant the game was close again. About twenty minutes passed without another goal, but in the 77th minute a corner from Laurent Gourcuff found it’s way into the near post and David was able to win the header against Washburne and claim his first ever senior goal. The whole team was buzzing and suddenly it was even, 2-2. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Buenos Aires couldn’t close out the game and AS Paris could use their experience and finish out the game with two goals from Papadopoulos. The match ended 4-2 and the title was lost.

Buenos Aires managed to bounce back and secure promotion in the last game of the season, which means it’s looking like David will be starting in Division 1 only during his second season in the SSL. Fara Dian player page
CPT #1

Fara Dian's rookie season was a bit of a whirlwind and he still has some whiplash. After being drafted at unlucky 13th by Buenos Aires, he saw the pitch a lot in the cup and occasionally in the league. While his passing was strong, he failed to make any impact on the score sheet and his average rating lagged well below seven. Still, the locker room was a great place to be and he felt very welcomed by Zema and the BA team. Plus the buzz of the promotion fight provided excitement week in and week out, even when Fara had to watch from the bench.

But there were rumblings in the background which resulted in a somewhat shocking trade deadline move that sent Fara back across the ocean to Adowa Accra! It wasn't easy to leave behind a great team that was on the rise, but Fara was happy to be back on his home continent and just a five hour flight from his father's family in Casablanca. The team experience in Accra was quite different, as the squad was filled with other young talents looking to make their mark and a finish low in the table was already guaranteed.

Management, however, recognized Fara's mind for the game and they surprisingly included him in many of their tactical conversations and trainings. On the pitch, they moved him from his traditional defensive midfielder role, asking him to take over the right wingback position and learn to run the whole pitch more effectively. He did finally snag himself one nice assist for the season and Accra's training has shifted Fara into playing down both of the wings as well as slightly more forward as a true central midfielder. After he joined, Accra managed 2 wins and 2 draws from their final five games, which really lifted the mood of the squad. While it was hard to watch BA get promoted, knowing he could have gone with them, Fara is excited for what the future holds in his new home.

APPROVED
