Optimistically Mediocre
#1
What was once high optimism and excitement is now hard work. When Roberto Scarpetta joined the SSL he was on a Sydney team that had nothing to lose, playing in Division 1 with players who had no business being there. They went out there every day and just tried to enjoy themselves and not get demolished by the other teams. Once they got relegated, it seemed like the plan was in motion. Lots of players were being brought in, lots of work was being put in to ensure this team would become a good one, with a very good core of young players.

However, a few seasons later, Reykjavik has continued to be a middle of the pack team. With new management in place it will surely take a little bit for them to get the team headed on the right path and really find their form, but it has left some question marks about the core. Do they have what it takes to really push forward and be a force to be reckoned with, or are they simply a team in the middle of the pack that will be mediocre for some time. There is a lot of optimism but right now it’s all about putting the work in and making sure that whatever it takes needs to be done to hit that next level.
