A bit later than expected but this season's Theme Week is upon us. The Theme Week is a chance to earn 6 uncapped TPE by writing an article, doing a graphic or recording a podcast about an announced theme related to the league.

Theme Week will run from today April 27th to Friday May 5th at 11:59PM Pacific.

https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png The Theme https://files.jcink.net/uploads2/simsoccer/Emoticons/SSL_Logo_30px.png

This Theme Week will cover something extraordinary you have seen in an SSL game! The SSL Discord has a clip highlight channel where users have posted some memorable events from the streamed games so you can always start there for inspiration, but you might have something else on your mind that you can write, talk or visualize in some way.

Written: Write 200 words about the event. What made it memorable? Who was involved and what was its impact? How did the players, managers, audience or commentators react?

Graphic: Show us your representation of the event. It could be the moment itself, the build-up or the aftermath.

Podcast: Talk us through what happened.

All normal requirements for articles/graphics/podcasts still apply, and you can't use affiliate PTs for this earning. ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE TO BE MADE ON THIS POST AS A REPLY.

If you have any questions then please message on Discord at Canadice#0985. Certain League Jobs provide a Theme Week Pass, you can check HERE if you will receive the uncapped TPE automatically via the Claim Thread.

This task is only claimable through a Claim Thread that will be posted after approval.

The game felt like two games.

This was my second game in this academy league. Mine is team red, this day's enemy was team green. Somehow, in the first half, we scored - Joey Kelly cut diagonally through their defence and kicked the ball inside the right post for a goal. And if you look in the highlights of the match for anything else we achieved on offence, you will see no more highlights after that.

Green woke up.

Green pressured relentlessly. Whenever the ball escaped our area, it found Justice, who found a way to put it back in. He kept looking for Allard, he kept looking for Vaffel. He found them often enough. Between the three of them, they had 10 shots by halftime.

The second half was more pressure, more shots. By the game's finish they had 9 corners to our zero. 24 shots, and 9 on target, to our 8 shots, with only 3 on target.

As the man standing between ball and target, I am grateful for their excellence. If this is an academy, I am a student. Today, my teachers were Allard, Vaffel, and Justice. They taught me lessons I have learned before, lessons I am happy to learn again: know the ball's dreams, be where the ball dreams of being. They kept attacking, and I kept welcoming the ball as one welcomes an old friend.

In the end, I was told of numbers like xG, or RAT, and how those numbers told how I was good and how Green was perhaps better.

I may learn these numbers, slowly. I know what I needed to know in this game, which was where the ball dreamed of being. I was always in that place, even as the dreams changed. We won 1-0. That zero is how many times I was not where the ball dreamed.

Soccer is simple, whether it's in Mongolia, Japan, or here.

The scene is set, my brother (or cousin? I can't remember what I orginally said about him) Jeffrey LaVert as the star striker for AC Romana. This was my first match getting to see my brother/cousin up close. It was magical honestly. He was so smooth and just seemed to glide on the field. The game was not going too well however, Romana had missed several oppurtinities and my brother/cousin Jeffrey knew he should have buried a lot of the chances that he had. All of a sudden, in a moment of pure brilliance, Jeffrey receives the ball at the left hand side of the field, nearing the top of the opposing team's box. He dribbles past two men but is moving away from goal, there was only one thing on his mind. He had to take matters into his own hands. Jeffrey goes for the curler, catches it sweetly and the ball sails past the keeper in to the top right corner of the net. The stadium was stunned, the fans were silenced, Jeffrey's team didn't know what to do. Jeffrey sprinted to the corner flag and immediately started the goggles celebration that he had done so many times when he was a child. So that was my favourite moment hands down. S9 Matchday 4 in division 2. What a game

I don't remember the exact match, but AC Romana were playing in a Division 2 league game, it could have been last season or the season before. Romana gained possession but they turned it over quickly, the opposition right back ending up with the ball. Romana's defence was still pushing out, but the right back looked up and launched a ball over the top to his striker. Romana defender Glenn Smart was the closest man, and though he was moving the wrong way, he had 5 yards on the attacker. There appeared to be little danger in the situation.

Glenn Smart started to turn... and then... he started to turn. Lethargic wouldn't be the word for this manoeuvre, glacial would be more appropriate. He had managed about 30 degrees of rotation by the time the striker blew past him to collect the ball, and was just about facing the right way in time to see the ball slotted past his hapless goalkeeper. It was simultaneously one of the most hilarious and tragic things I have ever seen play out in FM.

Smart has improved considerably since, and there has never been a repeat of this incident, but the day Glenn Smart had a turning circle will live long in the memories of Romana fans.

There have been many spectacular moments through the more than eight seasons the Simulation Soccer League has existed. Indeed, during that time, stars from around the world have dazzled inside stadiums and on pitches around the world. Those moments have at times been wonder strikes, other times incredible saves. Comebacks and combative clean-sheets. The magical moments the league has produced are, undoubtedly, as diverse as the league itself. So what sticks out in your mind when you think of something extraordinary you’ve seen on an SSL pitch over the years?
While it may not have been the most highlight-worthy goal, for me, the most wonderous moment I’ve witnessed watching the league came this very Season 9, on Matchday 4 for Division 2. On that day Red Star Laos played host to A.C. Romana. Although Red Star Laos would ultimately lose the game, Guilherme Guerra, on loan from his parent club Tokyo S.C., managed to net his first goal for the club.
It was the 65th minute of a then 3-1 game when Mike Checker took a throw-in to Guerra, who played it back. Checker found Olof Sides just outside the box, who played it immediately for Guerra on the run into the box. Guerra struck it first time and made no mistake finding the back of the net, bringing Laos within a single goal.
While it didn’t help the team earn any points, it was my most memorable moment. It was a start for Guerra, and hopefully, a first of many.
