Glenn Smart's Off Season Training
#1
During the off-season, Glenn Smart of AC Romana, focuses on specific football drills to enhance his skills and overall performance on the field. These drills are designed to improve his agility, positional awareness, tackling abilities, and passing accuracy.

One crucial drill Smart incorporates into his training regimen is the "Ladder Agility Drill." By performing quick footwork through a ladder, Smart enhances his agility, balance, and coordination. This drill helps him maintain a low center of gravity, enabling him to react swiftly and change direction effectively during intense match situations.

To enhance his positional awareness, Smart engages in the "Cone Grid Drill." This exercise involves maneuvering around a grid of cones while focusing on maintaining proper defensive positioning. By repeatedly performing this drill, Smart hones his ability to anticipate opponent movements, read the game, and adjust his position accordingly. Why does he do all of these I hear you ask? Because Milton Nunez has been poking fun at Glenn for his “turning circle” and general lack of mobility for some time now.

Lastly, Smart dedicates time to improve his passing accuracy through the "Target Passing Drill." By aiming for specific targets with both short and long passes, he hones his passing technique, vision, and precision. This drill enhances his ability to distribute the ball accurately from the backline, initiating attacking plays and supporting his teammates. While these drills wouldn’t typically be part of his routine, with Romana playing such a possession heavy style of football, it’s important that he is able to find his team mates — both under pressure and with accuracy, at all times.
