2 Big Away Goals
#1
What was the most impressive comeback in Reykjavik team history, and probably one of the most impressive comebacks in recent SSL memory, the Reykjavik team was moving on to the Semi-Finals of the SSL Cup and would be facing off against Catalunya. Both Reykjavik and Catalunya – at the time of writing this – are tied in Division 1. There isn’t too much to separate the two teams, so the matchup should be a good one.

Starting the first leg on the road isn’t new for Reykjavik, after all it is exactly what happened when they played Buenos Aires in their quarter final showdown. The match was very tightly contested all around from both squads. Reykjavik was holding their own and then disaster struck as Sterling tried to make a pass to one of his defenders but instead put it right on the foot of Maple who buried it and tied the game up at 1. Not long after Catalunya took a 2-1 lead and seemed to have control of the match.

Reykjavik pushed back a little, put some pressure and eventually got themselves a penalty where CASUAL put the ball down the middle and tied the game up at 2. There were some injuries, and Reykjavik couldn’t capitalize on being a man up until Lopta ultimately got injured. Both teams held on and ended in a 2-2 tie. Reykjavik now heads home for the second leg where they are tied and have 2 away goals. If they can play a tight defensive game, they could be able to walk away with a big win and get into the finals.
