Jalen Brooks never thought he would ever see himself on the pitch. He always grew up playing basketball. It was his first love. Growing up in Atlanta, basketball was a way of life. Jalen would play on whatever court he could find. It wasn't until the rise of major league soccer in the states that he even started to take notice to this foreign sports that was now gaining popularity in the states. After going to a couple games at the Mercedes Benz dome he was hooked. He started playing soccer here and there and eventually joined a weekend league. His agility on the court allowed him to play well in space. Jalen was used to the physicality from street basketball so that was no issue to him. He worked tirelessly to improve his shooting and his left foot but he was hooked. It didn't take long for other to take notice and eventually he dropped the basketball to make the full time transition to soccer. He went to a couple camps before he finally got a call back and a private work out. He must have done well enough because he got invited into the SSL Academy League where he is hoping that he can continue to grow as a player.
