Academy Task 5: Interview with Billy Bob For Meet your Academy!
#1
Host: Hello and welcome to Meet Your Academy! I’m Ashley Longworth, and today we’re thrilled to spotlight one of the academy’s most promising new talents. He’s only been with us a short while, but he’s already making a name for himself—scoring an assist in his first few games and sparking excitement on and off the field. Fans have been buzzing, coaches are taking notice, and we’ve been flooded with requests to bring him on the show.
Today, we have the privilege of getting to know the rising star, Billy! Billy, welcome to the show! How are you feeling today?

Billy: I’m good, thank you for inviting me. Really happy to be here.

Host: We’re thrilled to have you!  Let’s kick things off with our traditional opener to get to know you better. Can you introduce yourself to listeners who might not know you just yet?

Billy: Sure. My name is Billy Bob, and I was born in Toulouse. My mom is from Korea, and my dad is from the same town as me. I guess you could say I was born with a football at my feet! laughs

Host: Oh, really?

Billy: Yeah, my dad’s a big football fan, so naturally, he passed his love for the game on to me. He used to go every week to see Toulouse FC, the Téfécé, and, well, he’d often complain about them.

Host: But they had a good run last year!

Billy: Yes! He was so happy back then! But now, it’s a bit more challenging. laughs When I was young, we moved back to Korea. It was tough at first, but football helped me integrate quickly into my new surroundings. In high school, I started playing for a small neighborhood club, the Anyang Crusaders, and quickly became one of their standout players. It was just a small team, but it was amazing to finally be recognized and noticed by people. You could say I was a local star!

Host: laughs I’m sure every girl was a fan of yours!

Billy: Haha, but that wasn’t why I was playing. Being the heart of the team and making the crucial passes everyone relies on—that’s something I truly enjoy.

Host: So, would you say your ideal role is as a playmaker?

Billy: Yes, exactly! I’m working hard to be the best playmaker in the SSL league.

Host: There are a few players with a similar style to yours. I’m thinking of Budget Xavi, Aleksandr Skovgaard, Daryl McManus, or Chef Gagne. How do you compare to them, and do you think you could beat them?

Billy: Oh, that’s a great question! Well, each of them is special in their own way. They each have their unique strengths. Take Xavi, for example—he’s an amazing playmaker and a solid CDM (central defensive midfielder). He’s great at marking and defending. As for me, I’m a better ball carrier and can push further up the field. So to answer your question, I believe each of us can thrive here, and of course, my goal is to be the best.

Host: That’s quite a statement! Do you think Victoria Falls is the team to help you reach that goal?

Billy: To be honest, being in a team that’s struggling a bit is pretty exciting. I don’t think we’re far behind other teams. We just need to work hard, stay resilient, and keep fighting until we find the key to our success.

Host: Thank you for your time, Billy! Any final words for the fans tuning in?

Billy: Yes, of course! Keep cheering us on—we’ll make you proud, and I hope to see you at our next match.

Host: And that wraps up our interview! Thanks again, Billy. For our listeners, don’t miss our next episode—make sure to subscribe. See you soon!
