The .fmf file is used for the tactical instructions, mentality, formation and roles whereas the screenshot is used for the selection of players. If there are any discrepancies between the two parts, the simmer will only use the part they are meant to cover. For example if the screenshot has a Ball Playing Defender role on the right central defender position but the .fmf file has a Central Defender role at the same position, the simmer will use the .fmf file's role.
