GRADED: GRADED: Taking a Moment to Breathe and Refocus
#1
It's crazy to think that in one week I'll be playing my first ever professional football match. All the years of training and hard work, the grueling grind of the Academy season, the joys of getting drafted and the anxiety of moving to a new place on my own have all culminated in this. When I strap on those boots and pull up those socks it'll be one of the happiest moments of my life. I have to keep in mind that the journey isn't over. This is a checkpoint, not the destination. If I want to reach my final goal, if I want to truly become great, then the work just gets harder from here. I'll have access to the best coaches, the best support staff, the best training facilities, the highest level competition. I need to use everything that I have got at my disposal to continue to improve and elevate myself to the level I know I can achieve. The goal for this season is to get faster. I showed up to training camp and the first thing I noticed was how blindingly fast everyone was. There's defenders with top speeds that rival the fastest forwards. If I want to be able to be successful on the wing my acceleration and speed are going to be crucial and have to get better. Aside from that, I want to make sure I enjoy this first season, and take the time to build positive habits. Who knows, maybe there'll even be some silverware at the end of it.
