Hey folks, welcome back to LemonBluu’s Best XI (Post-MD2)!
If you’re new, don’t worry, this is only the second article in the series and the first one with actual match data! What happens is that the Academy management staff has hired LemonBluu, a very falliable manager who is trying to figure out how to make the best XI for a hypothetical match for the Academy team, and has also been tasked on figuring out transfer values for players!
LemonBluu Best XI (Projections)
Now that we’ve got actual stats, we can kinda narratively jog this all together, expect there to be a lot of uncertainty in the Best XI but the team should really solidify in the last couple of weeks.

From the initial Prospective Best XI, we’ve got 0 people coming back :0
Part of the “problem” of this Academy crop is that we’ve got 0 top CBs, so we’re kind of squishing together wing-backs and DMs into a structure that’ll let us run something normal-ish?
Going through the position, with substitutes in brackets
GK: James Asprey (Denis Mobek)
Asprey has been a busy keeper, conceding only two goals on 15 shots, he’s been an absolute rock for Port Royal F.C.
Defense: BigMac Johnson, Timo Geurts, Pinkie Pie, Trick Johnson (Jimmy Jimstead, Jonny Foster, Sergej Nadj)
Defense is a tricky bit for the Academy Best XI, LemonBluu does not rate any of our CBs, there’s a potential issue here that we’ve got a lot of emphasis put on stats that benefit defensemen who run a lot, and so we’ve mashed together wing-backs into formation.
Geurts and BigMac Johnson will be in their defense spots with Pie working in a “forward CB/DM” hybrid which feels kind of crazy to me. Trick Johnson gets to run forward in LWB and will be in charge of curling in crosses from the left.
Midfield: Santiago Mitidiero, Louis Ashworth, Beckett Sinclair, Arthur Cain (Marean Dohbra, Norberts Slakteris, Alexis Ramos)
Midfield comes into a bit of focus for us, with such varied types of midfielder we’ve got, we can play three of our midfielders in the centre of the formation with Arthur Cain pushing forward in the RWB/RAM slot.
Mitidiero and Pie will be looking to connect the defense and midfield, Mitidiero playing slightly more defensive to account for our lack of true CB. Ashworth is overloading the left side along with T. Johnson while Sinclair is going to do a lot of covering holes to make this formation work.
Forward: Niklas Jørgensen, Zlatan Gibrahimovic (Predrag Dobrić)
You know this isn’t rigged because I’m not in the Best XI this time! Jørgensen and Gibrahimovic each have a pair of goals and will be on their comfortable sides in this formation. Jørgensen with support from Cain and Gibrahimovic sniping shots from the crosses and acting as a target man for our team.
But wait, there’s more! We’ve got some player valuations! This is a first draft so we’ll see this evolve as we move forward. This is a rough estimated transfer value benchmarked on the 3rd most valuable U-19 player at the position according to Transfermarket. The tables are separated by position and also show where LemonBluu ranks you within your position group as well as showing your transfer value.
