After P.S Jakarta's devastating 3-0 loss to Port Royal, the first match where the academy club from Jakarta failed to score a single goal since Ehime's very own Ashito Aoi joined the draft calls, we the Japan News Network were able to find our local up and coming sensation and were finally able to get an interview. After getting his post match cool down done, we were joined by a charismatic yet slightly worn down Ashito. Below is the full interview with Ashito, his first after joining the draft class.
Interviewer: A tough night today then?
Ashito: It was. I am the first one to say when I don't perform up to my expectations and today was one such day. We were not up to the mark and we definitely would need to play better than how we played today.
Interviewer: Looks like there were a lot of tactical mishaps in the game today. Would you agree?
Ashito: I wouldn't say mishaps, but looking into the result today.. Yes.. You might say so. We were trying something but unfortunately that did not happen. We were all over the place and were very poor in all parts of the game. That includes tactics as well. Looking back at it, I guess we simply needed to look at things simply and yeah.. But kudos to Port Royal.. This was the sort of performance that shows why they are at the top of this league.
Interviewer: Back to back defeats this past week. How is the team going to deal with it?
Ashito: Well, it is what it is. We have been hampered by a lot of unfortunate circumstances, but we have to make go with whatever we have in our arsenal. This game was a complete and total collapse from our part, but that would be addressed in this week when we prepare for our upcoming set of games. But the one before - our game against Atletico Medellin, that was a real close contest. Talk about a last minute lead. We felt that it was a fairly even game as both of us played some good football. But alas, the FM gods were there on their side. We just have to move on.
Interviewer: Moving on, how is your life in Jakarta? Settling down well?
Ashito: We have a wonderful bunch of lads here! Everyone who is active here have helped me out a lot in getting me settled in this city! There is a good environment around the lads here despite our results. As I said earlier, ours is a very sad situation that has nothing to do with our individual performances. It is just unfortunate circumstances. We will overcome this as well. And yes we are not getting the results we want now, but we have nowhere to go but top in the situation we are now. Jakarta fans if you are listening (reading this) this, we as a team just have one message - Have faith. We have not given up. We will play every remaining game for our club badge. That you need not worry about at all.
Interviewer: Have you formed any close friendships? Any hobbies picked up?
Ashito: Well, there is a good amount of friendship between all the active lads. I do get up to the occasional banter with Chris (Warrick), Dom (Patterson), Damien (De Soto) and Tonto (Tut). Especially after this last loss, the amount of chat has increased. Hopefully that results is a better performance in the next matchday. Fingers crossed. As far as hobbies are concerned, I have a sticker collection. I do regularly trade stickers with Tonto. But if anyone else is interested, all you need to do is ping me.
Interviewer: Final remarks - Anything you wish to convey to your fans back home?
Ashito: Well first off, thank you a lot for supporting me throughout. It has been a blessing seeing you out in stadiums where we are playing. For me personally, it gives me a good boost seeing you around. It has been difficult so far, but I am improving. We as a team are improving. So I would simply ask you to keep doing what you are doing and I promise you, I would be someone who you be proud calling a fan of!
