When it comes to the game of football, jerseys have never been much of a thought. I loved football for the players, the entertainment, the stakes, the beauty of the game, etc. What truly captivated my love for football were these aspects of the game.
However, it's hard to look past the evolution of football jerseys over time. While jerseys won't be the thing I'm paying much attention to before, during, or after the game, there is a multitude of jerseys that are stunning.
Nigeria 2014 World Cup Retro Jerseys
I've got Nigerian roots so I am biased. However, I am very fond of these jerseys. While I never got to watch the 1994 Nigerian WC team play, I watched many highlights on YouTube and these jerseys give me nostalgia from those times. I love the pattern and meshing of the green and white colors. The design of the badge is the best version as well. All in all, the design of the jersey and the nostalgia is fantastic and there's a reason it broke records in terms of pre-orders.
Manchester United AON Jerseys
This is cheating but I'm going with the AON United jerseys including home, away, and neutral. Like in the previous paragraph, nostalgia plays a huge role here. The AON jerseys were the last legs of the Fergie era in United. The last time United was dominant at the domestic level and internationally. However, I also have a fondness for the design choices. There is beauty in simplicity in my opinion with most of these jerseys being simply one of our dominant colors with the badge, Nike logo, and the AON logo. It was nice and the blue/black alternate checkered jerseys looked even better. This is a homer choice, but I miss these jerseys. If I'm being honest though, I prefer the older Premier League jerseys to the newer ones.
Barcelona 2009-2010 UNICEF Jerseys
This was a hard decision as I like the 2013 and 2015 Qatar Airways jerseys. However, nostalgia wins out yet again. I remember playing FIFA 10 on the DS all those years ago. I was always choosing either United or Barcelona of course and I had so much fun. Design-wise, I love the mesh of the blue and red horizontal stripes. The UNICEF over the middle in yellow helps combine all the team's colors into one beautiful jersey.
