Julian Rubio at a Crossroads?

The agile andorran striker is tipped for a future trade following the publication on Twitter this Thursday of multiples leaked photos apparently taken at a bar in Shanghai's international district with the.
The photos show USP's new Japanese player-coach, Ashito Aoi, sitting around a table alongside the player's brother and agent, David Rubio, as well as British businessman Kermit McFrog, owner of the Shanghai Dragons.

Rumors suggest three to four picks could be made to secure the services of the Andorran striker, who would take a dim view of being put in competition next season with the French serial goalscorer Eric Belmont. The latter is in sparkling form with Paris (20 goals, 5 assists), which would overshadow Rubio according to sources close to him. Nothing official has been announced from the players, but some USP ultras are already overreacting by burning their "Rubio" jerseys in the streets of Sao Paulo.

Is James Asprey's adventure in South Korea over?

Rumors are swirling around the Welshman, who still hasn't extended his contract with Seoul Mythic FC. Asprey, who reportedly aren't feeling well in Asia, would like a change of scenery, which is attracting interest from other organizations.

CD Tenochtitlan, owned by Portuguese billionaire Divogo Jota, is reportedly considering the young British goalkeeper, but interest from expansion teams could force his current club to keep him in order to protect other assets within the club during the next expansion draft. To be continued...

Van Eyndhoven in doubt ?

The Dutch midfielder had already come under fire in recent weeks from Roma fans following his lackluster performances.

However, this situation worsened further following the debacle in the second leg of the round of 16 cup match against Shanghai (0-5, 2-5 in two games). The capricious midfielder notably missed a penalty, his second of the season. The public outcry is reportedly pushing the club to send him back on loan to Inter London to be replaced, at least temporarily, by the more experienced Gastone Poggio, who would return to the club in the opposite direction. Discussions are reportedly underway with the Italian player, who has been in great form this season in the Minor League.

All this talk about van Eyndhoven, people gotta realize he is still a kid coming into his own in the league.

We saw what he could do in a system that played to his strengths, he just needs to get out of the mental funk.

Regarding Rubio, it would be a shock to see him in the black and gold kit. Heard that him and Hohenhahn are not on good terms. Would be like Kudus leaving West Ham to join Tottenham.

Despite leaked photos from Shanghai showing key football figures including USP’s Ashito Aoi and Shanghai Dragons owner Kermit McFrog, I’m told Julian Rubio remains fully focused on Club Deportivo Tenochtitlan.

Several clubs have approached Rubio's management in recent weeks and interest is concrete from both Asia and South America. However, no official offers have been submitted and the player has not given the green light to any move.

Rubio is committed to CDT's project and is especially motivated by the chance to reunite with former teammate and close friend Calvin Ball.

Despite speculation and strong fan reactions in São Paulo, those close to the player insist there are no immediate plans to leave. Rubio is calm and focused on the present.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

União São Paulo (USP) Clarifies Transfer Rumors and Addresses Security Breach Involving Julian Rubio’s Account

Sao Paulo, 24 July 2025 — União São Paulo (USP) wishes to respond to recent developments and circulating rumors regarding our striker, Julian Rubio, and our player-coach, Ashito Aoi’s recent visit to Shanghai.

Contrary to widespread speculation, there are no ongoing negotiations or plans to trade or transfer Julian Rubio. Julian remains a vital part of USP’s squad, and the club fully supports his continued growth and success. Rumors suggesting internal tensions or unrest related to competition with other players, such as Eric Belmont, are unfounded.

Reports have also emerged quoting a statement from Julian Rubio’s social media account that claimed his commitment to Club Deportivo Tenochtitlan (CDT) and denial of interest in any transfer to elsewhere. USP can categorically confirm that this statement was not made or authorized by Julian Rubio or his representatives. Following an investigation, it was determined that his account was compromised by a third party with no affinity towards USP. We are working closely with Rubio’s management and cybersecurity experts to resolve this breach.

Photos leaked from Shanghai have shown USP’s player-coach, Ashito Aoi, alongside football figures including Shanghai Dragons owner Kermit McFrog. While this generated speculation involving Julian Rubio, USP clarifies that Aoi’s visit was part of routine professional activities such as scouting and strategic relationship-building.

In particular, with heightened interest from Shanghai in Julian Rubio, it is natural that USP would also observe Shanghai’s talent pool, notably Marcel Voda, Shanghai’s talented Central Midfielder and Rapid Magyar's wildly charismatic Right Back Allie Bunson.
