[VSN] Expansion Review
#1
We are less than a week away from the expansion draft in the SSL. Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame has been left exposed in the upcoming draft.

So why not discuss the branding and uniforms of the teams, and see if I feel that it's attractive for any user to join their clubs?

Liffeyside Celtic FC & Club Sportif Rova Mpanjaka:

I feel that it is about time that Ireland had a team in the SSL, as the logo is probably the best you can get for a team based in Ireland, as it is a Celtic cross, synonymous with the history of the Celts. The kits themselves are rather simple, as the home kit is a simple green and black, which looks to me like a Reykjavik clone. However, their road kit is an improvement, which adds a grey color to balance out the aforementioned black and green, and if you look closely, there is a Celtic cross on the jersey, making it one of the smoothest kits in the league.

As for Rova Mpanjaka, the logo itself, I'll let GM Nol explain this: "That is a boabab tree which is a symbol for royalty in Madagascar. The whole team leans into the royal lineage of Antananarivo. Rova is the palace the royals live in and Mpanjaka is Malagasy (the local language) for Princes, Kings, or Royals (depending on your translating device). So we are the Palace Kings in english and the crown / tree on the logo just enforces it more".

The kits also seem to have taken up most of their graphic budget, as these jerseys also have a unique flavor, as the home kit contains a white stripe going through the kit, with red dominating, with a slight splash of dark green to avoid duplicating the kit of São Paulo. The white kit contains a gradient fade from white to red, which I'm sure is the first time a team has used this on a kit. I approve of this design. However, they decided to lean into the royal route for their alternate jersey, which is purple and gold. However, this looks like a Romana clone once again.

Overall, these designs for this franchise look to be on the right path, but I think the kits are solid but often clone other established clubs. I do still approve of this design.

Xelaju Cosmico Futbol Club & Academie De Football Masques Sacres de Duekoue:

We finally add a brand new Latin American team to the SSL with the Los K'iches. The logo consists of a Bird species of sorts, sitting on a ball, and with dark teal and purple colors, a unique combination in the SSL. The kits themselves are all unique for the K'iches, as the first kit is a standard dark teal with purple piping throughout, making it a rather simple kit.  The white kit, though, was probably the inspiration behind this article; it has a purple wing throughout it, which is arguably one of the best and one of my favorite designs. The alternate jersey has a purple and black texture scheme throughout, making it a bit too similar to AC Romanas' alt, unfortunately.

African teams are a common theme among the SSL, but Cote d'Ivoire is a unique and untapped market for the SSL. The logo consists of a tribal leader in burgundy and gold, which is very reminiscent of the SHL's Montreal Patriotes. I won't spend too much time on the kits because they are rather simple, as the kits are burgundy and white, each with a tribal and/or mosaic pattern built into the kit, elevating a would-be mediocre kit to an exceptional one.

Overall, this franchise brings out a flashy, but elegant vibe to the battle of the pitch, and also, I'm a sucker for teal colors (Thanks, ISFL Austin Copperheads).

Feel free to state your opinion of these brandings in the comments. Who knows, you might be taken or traded to one of these organizations!
