Academy Task 5: A Deep Dive into Weston McNuggie
#1
Welcome everyone to the Deepest Dive there is on one of the newest, hottest, prospects on the block. Port Royal got themselves a zinger of an assignment here, as Weston McNuggie is looking like the Flash so far. They say that pace can get you far in the world of soccer, and McNuggie and the American program are betting on that. We haven’t seen much evidence that Weston knows how to do things such as kick a ball, do a throw-in, or even put on their jersey, but they are a natural speedster.

With a whopping 18 Pace and Acceleration on an arbitrary 1-20 scale, one would suggest that the majority of this player’s round-about 380 units of training have been spent to make sure that nobody can keep up with McNuggie. There has been some minor investment in some other notable soccer-based skills such as Dribbling, Passing, Finishing, and Work Rate. It is quite important to be able to Dribble in the game of soccer, and while this player is running very quickly, and reaching such speeds in a very minimal amount of time, they should be able to adequately pass by their opponents a normal amount of times. Should they decide to instead use their teammates’ abilities, they could be considered average at that technique. They have shot a few balls in their time, although they are not quite considered a dangerous scoring threat.

Coaches have had no complaints, but have no additional comments to make on their effort in practice, or on the pitch. They perform to the expectation of their abilities, and have shown no real noticeable effect, postively or negatively, to the contrary.

One could consider their peripheral physique to be expected, with perhaps a dash of prospect in the areas of general agility and balance. They have not been known to fall over often, and are able to move in more than just a straight line, which is made more impressive at the speeds in which they move.

As for usage on the field, they have declared themselves to be of the middle, picking the opponent’s net as their preferred destination. They are not particularly picky about being on the left or the right, but in general, they aim to run really, really fast, down the middle of the field, in the direction of the goal. At which point, they will simply go around their opponents, and some of their proceeding attempts will convert into goals for their club.

We should expect to learn much, much more about Weston McNuggie in the near future, as they continue their transition from Track and Field prodigy to enigmatic soccer prospect. Coaches should look to encourage development into such skills as soccer, and all that it encompasses, outside, of course, the art of running quickly. As a midfielder, particularly the attacking variety, we might expect a further development of their passing ability, as well as their mental acuity for the game, and perhaps some development in their ability to take strategic kicks from interior locations.

Thank you for joining me in meeting one of the most interesting new Academy players, who aims to join the ranks of the SSL in short order.
