Larv Itar figures out his best move set
#1
Pokémon are normally only allowed 4 moves! So what 4 moves make the best Central Defender. I’ll be diving into Tyranitar’s moveset to decide what 4 moves I would want to have to be the very best like no one ever was.

One of the Pokédex entries for Tyranitar reads: Its body can't be harmed by any sort of attack, so it is very eager to make challenges against enemies.

So we are looking at a tough, no nonsense defender. The moves I ended up choosing are actually pretty offensive in terms of Pokemon but fit the theme fantastically.

Iron Defense: sometimes you are getting pressed hard by your opposition and need to toughen up that defense. So we’ll start by keeping our resident ball stopper out of harms way with an Iron defense.

Tackle: I feel like this one is self explanatory. We’ve got to get the ball back somehow and what simpler way to do that than the moves namesake.

Body press: Offside traps, free kicks, throw-ins and corners; these all have one thing in common and that is the ability to press the opposing players out of position is invaluable. That is what we are trying to do here. Create space and block out any other players with Body Press.

Aerial ace: This is what I consider my flex spot. Any of the honorable mentions could fit in here. I picked Aerial ace here as this league thrives on long passes and aerial assaults, so being able to just take care of it will be great. This also allows Larv Itar a way to chuck the ball about to his teammates.

Honorable mentions: These are moves that could fit in place of Aerial Ace depending on how you wanted to build your defensive Pokémon:

Iron head
Rain dance/sunny day/ sandstorm
Protect
Iron Tail
Double team
Endure
Swagger
Substitute
Knock off
High horsepower

(Dis)Honorable mentions: These moves are ones that are great for someone willing to play a little rough and tough. But may result in a card or two.

Leer
Scary face
Mud Slap
Low kick
Fling
Foul Play
Stomping Tantrum
Outrage
Smack down
Curse
Bite
Crunch
Taunt

As you can see. There is a large number of moves that can be utilised by someone in the SSL without having to resort to too much naughtiness.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Great analysis and article! Some more detail would be even better but to me it seems clear you've done enough work.
