Larv Itars Quiet Rituals
#1
The locker room is an interesting place to be before a game starts. It's not a loud place, it's not a quiet place either, it's somewhere in between. Each and every player does something a little different to prepare: whether its the goalie tapping his gloves; the striker giving himself a pep talk in the mirror; or the boot boy giving each boot a little extra polish. Larv Itar has his own rituals too. Something he visualises, that takes him back to his childhood days. We all know he moved out of goal, but the little things he did before each game still give him comfort. He takes a breath, taps his name above his locker 3 times and visualises himself as a wall. Stopping any goals from getting past. He then spins around, gives himself a pat on the back and makes his way out of the locker room. On the field he taps the corners of the goalpost to get a feel for its size, walks up to his starting spot and makes a small mark on the ground. He get's himself in position and ready to play, waiting for that first whistle and the game to start.

I love the pregame ritual. This sort of article feels longer than it is based on the subject matter and the engagement. Since this was a shorter article, I was split between a 4 and a 5, but I usually go with the higher number in these cases.

5/5
