Eagles soar on lowly Sydney
#1
Victoria Eagles got their first win of the season against an over-confident Sydney City with a 6-3 routing.

Eagles players had been keen to finally get their first win of the season with I'm told training this week being exceptional with everyone stepping it up a level.

Victoria raced into a 4-0 lead with goals from Bobby x2, Macleod and Reed with Sydney getting their first goal on the stroke of half-time via a penalty. Until this point it was all Eagles in the match with the xG telling the story of 1.48 vs 0.04 before the penalty.

Sydney got another goal early in the 2nd half with Maple tapping in a great cross from McNeil. Despite this goal a comeback never really seemed on and Eagles got a 5th goal in the 73rd minute after Reed put Gohil through on goal to finish in the bottom left hand corner. Maple immediately cut the deficit again 2 minutes later in a near identical goal he scored earlier.

The tie was all but over in 80th minute when Macleod put Sydney to the sword and dashed their dreams of salvaging a draw when he capitalised on Bobby's positive running down the right hand side and powered the ball into the net leaving the Eagles faithful knowing the 3 points were theirs. With Eagles front four all scoring, this can only bode well for their future chances and they will now turn their attention to their next match against Atlético.
