In one week, the hooded and cloaked figures, the shadow leaders who control the SSL will congregate at a classified location, and begin a sinister operation known simply as the “Offline SSL Prospect Draft”.
This group meets every season, and they debate, they bicker, they make deals, threats, and promises for nearly a week. It is a brutal and trying affair that alters the very nature of the SSL. All we know is that at the end of it all, on the 7th day, they rest. Instead, mysterious figures, unidentifiable anomalies, present their findings and their declarations of who has been called into service for which of the glorious SSL Franchises across the world.
There are mixed reactions to being called into service. Some go on to have incredible careers in active duty, and earn their accolades in the service of the mysterious beings. Others however, they are dragged around for years on end, unable to escape the shackles of servitude, and the only indication of their status that we get is one word. “Inactive”. What that means for those poor souls, we do not know, but it surely can not be good.
Many lives will be changed in a week, especially for the lives of those free soccer players left in the world, who experience their last match of freedom today, in Academy Matchday 14. My god rest their souls.
