Academy Task 5: Cue Jr. and Accra Season
#1
So, academy season is over, last games played yesterday and now all focus from the new (and old but new) players is turning into the draft, that i believe will occur on october 26th. I mean, the results will be streamed on that day, the draft obviously should start behind the scenes before that, so that General Managers can take their sweet time picking someone they probably do not know. I know how this works, been around the block a few times.
Regarding this season that just finished, i think Jay Cue Jr. had pretty decent numbers while playing for Adowa Accra Football Club. He had a very unorthodox method on his updates and where he spent his TPE, mainly focusing on acceleration and speed, that netted him some pretty relevant stats. That being said, at the same time it might not have been the best for his team, as Adowa finished the season fifth out of 8 teams, something not expected after they started very well, at a certain point they were fighting for the lead. And even worse, looking at the table, they finished on 16 points, courtesy of a very even four wins, four draws and four losses, which is closer to the bottom spot in the league, that finished on 11 points, than to the top spots, that got to 24 points. It is what it is, like Gennaro Gattuso said very wisely, "sometimes may be good, sometimes may be sh*t".
Looking at Jay Cue Jr. numbers, we can see very clearly the main goal for his career, getting the ball in the area for some goals to show up. He assisted nearly one third of his teams total goals during the league season, with 9 assists in 30 total goals, which is not really bad at all. While finishing only fifth, they had the third best goals scored record, which is something that Cue Jr. definitely contributed to. Even defensively, the team record was not that bad, with 23 goals conceded, with only 2 teams doing better with 20 and another team having the same 23 goals conceded record. So, fifth place definitely looks strange just by looking at the stats, but that is football for you, i guess.
One of the interesting stats is that, even though he can get into forward positions very easily, trying to create dangerous situations for the opposing teams, he was not able to score a single goal in twelve games. Now, i know he is just a lowly right back/right wing back, but with the amount of times he can get into the box, i would assume he would be able to find some kind of crazy rebound falling into his feet and putting one past the keeper. (and he did, but we do not talk about that because @Canadice stole his thunder).
Not really sure how he is going to fare going into, what i would assume would be, the minors from next season onward, but i am curious to see where he ends up. A lot more to come.

Maye Cue is just a team player like that. Or maybe he's cursed. Better get the holy water.
