2025-09-29, 10:13 PM - Word count:
This was the first year Grimace was a player in the SSL Minors as a member of the Montréal United. With a little more than half the season in the books I'm taking a look at the expectations the team felt for themselves going into the season and where they currently stand.
At the start of the season the veteran players had a feeling that this was going to be a down year, with some key members of the team moving up to the Majors it left some holes that couldn't be filled. One of the glaring misses was at Keeper where an inactive Christopher Randle is doing his best. Unfortunately that best is manifesting itself with a league worst 50.72% save percentage. That's almost 8% worst than the goalie for Inter London which has been blasted for what is probably a record breaking 102 GA. The quality of the defense before him is holding back the floodgates on what could be a flurry of goals with a final defense of nothing more than a statue with gloves.
The United currently stand at a precarious 5th place with 22 points sporting a strong GF (42) but a pretty high GA (30) to match. Overperforming is a word that might be thrown around for the way things are working out for this young team right now. Grimace himself started off great with a player of the match and scoring his first ever goal early in the season. He cooled off a touch but stayed consistent as a performing player reaching an unexpected 3 goals and 5 assists so far with plenty of tackles, crosses, and headers in between.
The future is bright in Montreal and for the Schwarzwälder FV. Grimace is excited to be a part of it and is eager to put up even better performances going forward.
