We’ve completed 11 of 14 games for this Academy season, and Stockholm is not currently in last place! With a win against Istanbul, we squeaked our way ahead of Sydney, up by a single point and two whole goals.
If you were to ask me what I thought our biggest weakness was, I would have said our defense, however looking at the standings, it seems to me that while our defense wasn’t top notch, it was certainly acceptable relative to the other teams. However our measly 16 goals is nowhere close to acceptable if we want to be a competitive team. If I could revise my original answer, I suppose the real answer is probably our lack of possession overall. We’ve done a reasonable enough job fending off chances against, but without control of the ball, it’s been nearly impossible to get anything done. Our movement out of our zone has been almost non-existent, and what few chances we have had, have been defused with ease.
If we’re going to make the most of these last three games, and try to recover some of this season, we’re going to have to make a concerted effort to have the ball more, and to work it up the field one pass at a time.
