Matchday 18 - Fry's decisive procrastination
#1
Match day 18 is upon us, and yet again Bernardo Fry has failed to take action to further his training plan.  Unused TPE is up to 73, likely too high a number than in reasonable.  Slurm Plus and Galactic Gin have not budged his resolve, and the points remain unspent.  A request will be sent to management for advice.

Performance on the other hand, has been excellent.  To wit - Fry stands tied for first on the team with six assists.  No one is close to matching his 53 key passes and 36 successful crosses.  He also leads the team in chances created with 16.  As a serious threat in every match, he also leads the team in fouls suffered with 37.   On top of that, Fry also leads the team in Successful Presses, leading to the opponent losing the ball.  Perhaps we renegotiated our contract too soon, but we'll see!

In any case, we face Hollywood FC.  They stand upon five consecutive wins, with no sense of waning.  Fry hopes for the best, but I think the best we can hope for is 2 goals/assists and a very strong performance by Twinkletoes.  A goal difference of +31 so far, this is a tall order for the Cataluna netminder.

Fry crushes the lime wedge into his Galaxy Gin during warmups, and the game begins.  A mad scramble in the goalmouth finds Twinkletoes deflecting the ball with his face, a strong effort.  Still, Cataluna is up for the challenge, maintaining possession and creating chances.  We're going to need some a bigger boat and some luck.

And what luck we have!  Bonito skips past a defender, gets a lucky bounce and puts the ball into the far corner!  Surely this won't be enough, and soon enough Hollywood equalizes.  Mograine on the right side has shut Fry's dribbling attack down.  Halftime arrives, and we stand 1-1, a good result!

Twinkletoes stands tall, keeping Cataluna in the match, but this cannot last.. and Klose finds the net to bring the score to 1-2.  A free quick from the training ground made the score 1-3.  Klose again, and it's 1-4.  The floodgates have opened and even the best goalkeeper cannot stand in the way.

Fry is still miles away from his target of two goals/assists.  It's hard to be optimistic from the defensive third of the pitch.  Late in the game, Fry is through for the shot, but it's tipped wide!  Very close.

The game ends 1-4, with Cataluna having only really participated in the first half.

The "stream of consciousness" type articles are always a toss-up for me, but this one used data and insight into the player. It was very solid. A more pronounced structure would make me a happier camper, but I'm nitpicking.
