Its A Small World After All

I was taking a looksie at the player records, and of course there are some glamorous ones like goals and all that, but I think some of the more interesting ones for me are distance ran, tackles one, and maybe interceptions. And a name that pops up more than once in those fields in a player by the name of Shinji Kaido, who happens to be a player by the same user as the last player I talked about (that wasn’t mine)!

This left dominant Attacking Midfielder certainly did a lot of running! They hold the Majors, the Cup, and the WSFC record for Distance ran, and was just shy of completing the triplet in Tackles Won too, falling short in the Majors to Milton Nunez. They were in the Top 20 in all three for Interceptions, and in the top handful for Key Passes and Chances Created as well.

Talk about a player who does all of the non-scoring things perfectly, and still managed to be a notable goalscorer to boot!

While I anticipate Kalinins’ career to focus a bit more on the defensive side of the ball, it’s always interesting to see the kinds of names that pop up in the record books so often, and sometimes they just end up recreating into your draft class, and become the first to be better than the average soccer player, so there must be something to learn from them!

Kaido was a great player, but maybe Kalinins can surpass him?
