As the twenty third season’s draft is upon us, many players are preparing for the week ahead with nervous excitement. When you consider the depth of this season’s academy class, I believe many managers and their team of trusted advisors will be jockeying for position and draft capital to try to pick up some of the next batch of stars.
While the impact might not be felt right away from this class, it has the makings of one of the more potent drafts the SSL could remember.
A mixture of already household names like Arsène, Kaspars, Kaspar and Weston alongside some young new faces makes this an intriguing draft to scout.
Some managers will lean on the proven and known quantities. Others, will take the chance on the lesser known assets and risk the higher upside play. With Liffeyside owning this season’s number one selection and a bevy of really talented assets in the mix - it wouldn’t be a surprise or bad business for the team’s management to consider a bold move to pick up additional draft capital at the expense of their coveted first overall selection.
