Tom Mæddisen doesn't really enjoy the off season. It is boring to only work out and not compete against the others. But Tom Mæddisen does really enjoy to make passes against a wall. Kick it towards the wall, calculate the bounce, get control of the ball and pass it again. Or just one time it towards the wall several times in a row making it more and more difficult using the angles. Tom Mæddisen really enoys making passes. Beautiful passes is what makes him the most happy in the game of football. It is more fun to set up someone else with a beautiful pass than to score on your own. And that is why Tom Mæddisen always practices passing and through balls. Even corners and free kicks, but mainly sweet sweet killer balls that can become goals. Tom Mæddisen's career goal is to get more assists than his childhood hero that is also named Tom, but Pedersen as surname. Tom Mæddisen will probably not get as many assists as Tom Pedersen in Montreal since Tom Mæddisen has already been promoted to Schwarzwälder Fussballverein and will not play for Montreal united again for many years to come. But hopefully he will get more assists in total during his career. At the moment he is missing a mere 87 assists to catch up with Tom Pedersen, but would like to get like 110 more to get the total assist leader in the SHL. That is a bit more farfetched to be honest as those that have gotten the most assists in the SHL have been wings or forwards, but that does not mean that Tom Mæddisen gives up on his dreams. He will go all in to make it or break it. To the future and beyond or dwindle to the grave. There’s no inbetween. Glory or nothing.

Matias decided to fly back home, to where it all started on that fateful day that he got picked up by a random scout visiting Misiones, Argentina. When he touched down in the small airport that Posadas holds he took a breath of humid, but fresh air. He felt already at home. Having had to move to Montreal and now Germany to continue his career post his days at the Medellin academy, he has taken well to the cold weather. It could always get cold where Matias was, but never the way he found in Montreal or Germany. Matias wasn't here for pleasure though, he was here to train his footballing abilities. With mate and his termo in hand he made his way to a small town outside the city of Obero called Guarani, the language of those who lived here speak. He saw a small pitch, one of those rugged ones that you would find in any rural place in Argentina. He went into a small house, that was right by the pitch and decided to knock on the door to see if the family had a football and some cones, as every Argentinian child is given such things when they begin to walk.

He was greeted by a small child who instantly recognized him, but he did not have any love behind those eyes. The following is roughly translated from Spanish, "Your Matias Xavier, the central defender from Misiones right?" the kid asked. Across Matias' face a smile begins to creep in, "Why yes I am, do you happen to follow the SSL minor league?" The kid did not reciprocate a smile, "No, but I saw your terrible ad for the gambling website called 1xBET, and so did my father." Matias was a little disappointed the child did not greet him better but decided to continue the conversation to see if he could get what he wanted from him, "I hope your Dad liked it more than you did! I was wondering if you had a football and some cones I can borrow as well?", Matias replied trying to feign a smile. The kids eyebrows began to shift as to put on a stern face, though unconvincingly as the kid was maybe about 8, "He did, and now we are in massive financial debt because of his gambling addiction which he only got because of your commercial! We had to sell my football and cones to pay back some of the debt and that was gifted to me by my grandpa when I first began to walk." Matias lost his smile, then he began to ponder momentarily if he was really going to debate an 8 year old on whether he or the kids father was to blame for the gambling addiction and the absolute absurdity that life is in itself. Matias decided against it responding curtly, "Well, I am very sorry to hear that, may you have massive financial gains in the near future!"

With that Matias turned around and went to go knock on the next persons house to the right where he did receive a football and some cones. His training was rather usual as it always was nice to train in your backyard, and with that Matias decided to call it a day.

Approved - That is a conundrum. I don't blame Matias.

Coming off a career year with Krung Threp, Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame got to work training for the next season determined to be the next face of the CD Tenochitlan franchise. The first thing she focused on was her shot accuracy, where she placed targets on a the goal net to practice her shot placement and accuracy, and intentionally made a robotic goalie with the team manager’s face on it to use recording lines of them yelling if she missed a shot in order to motivate her to improve. It took a lot of tries, but after the 30th try, she managed to hit all the targets in rapid succession. The next thing she looked to improve on her speed and stamina. For this, she set up an AI team based on footage from her games the prior season, and also put trackers on herself that tracked speed, and it would shock her if she was getting tired or was running too slow. Initially, she got shocked a lot due to low stamina, but after a week or so of training, she was able to keep up and even exceed the speed of the AI team, but then she decided to focus on improving one last part of her game that she felt that could be improved on. She modified the AI simulation to focus on headers and goal scoring. She was determined to be the league leader in goals. She imported the top SSL players into the AI sim in order to size up the competition and simulate scoring on headers. At first, her headers kept getting saved, largely due to a bad back posture, but then she adjusted her angle slightly to the point where it was near impossible for goalies to save, and then fake them out with her trademark bicycle kick finishing move. She then posted her gains to her millions of online followers just to show off how good she got.

Slab Head had always been a multi-sports athlete growing up. He had played and coached tennis until he was 17, played for his schools hockey, badminton and athletics teams, all whilst playing football throughout his childhood. This had given Slab Head a decent base of well rounded athleticism that he had leant on throughout his football career.
There was on sport, however, Slab Head had never gotten on with - Rugby.
Slab was a skinny kid, he didn't hit puberty late but he certainly didn't hit it early, and playing rugby against a group of lads who were around 6 foot tall and 80+kg at 5 foot 8 and 60kg was not a fun time.

As Slab Head progressed in his footballing career, he noticed that there were some lads he began to play football with that also came from a multi sport background, but that played rugby growing up. These lads seemed to be stronger, faster, more agile - just more dominant as athletes, and Slab Head didn't like that very much at all.

At this point Slab Head was met with a dilemma, do I just accept that these guys are better athletes than me or do I play a sport I hate in the off-season to try and close this gap. Well, if you know anything about Slab Head, you know he's brainlessly stubborn and mindlessly competitive, so accepting inferiority was just not an option for our growing star.
And so Slab Head joined the local rugby team over the off-season. He trained with them every day he wasn't training with Sao Paulo, on the field, in the gym, anything he could.
And when he returned to Brazil for Pre-Season, everyone noticed that Slab Head had developed a strong athletic profile into one of the most dominant athletic football players the SSL had ever seen.

Approved - Slab Head is going to keep getting stronger!

Roger Roger has always known how to attack. Built for war, the battle droid has a great knack for the attacking side of the ball and aggressive play. Roger Roger has not really thought much of versatility, knowing that being a striker is the best possible use for him. However, Roger Roger is an exemplary teammate. Originally being one of a team of 100 trillion, Roger Roger is programmed with the desire to support the group in any way that is instructed. To do this on the pitch, Roger Roger decided to try his hand at a RAM/LAM position and learn from the excellent midfielder Tonto Tut. While Tut is a center midfielder, Tut has been terrorizing opposing squads from the midfield since his introduction to the league. In multiple sets of practices, Tonto Tut would work with Roger Roger on the control needed to hang back in a play and support the drive from the mid. With Roger Roger's focus on the wings, Tut focused on helping Roger with special crossing drills to get the ball to Roger's striker Duo Dom Patterson from a far set. Instead of a 1-2 punch up the middle, with Roger Roger on the outside, the plays can be set up as a cross into center with Tut supporting Patterson from behind. It was a bit difficult for Roger Roger to learn the ropes of how to circle the wings and press the attack from the side instead of the center, but the droid eventually got the hang of it. The crew continued these drill through the current season and into the offseason, to ensure that Roger Roger was solidified in this skills and abilities before the managers deploy him in such a capacity. Roger Roger is happy to have developed his skills in this way and looks forward to CD Tenochtitlan capitalizing on the increase of abilities of the squad.

Approved - Roger being even more versatile could be scary for the league.

Career task 3

Tlacaelel Tepoztli had work to do. Montreal hadn't met with great success in his first season there, certainly less success than it had the year prior. His team would now land in the second division in the minor league, the bottom of the bottom.

Tlacaelel is a simple man, and not a flash player. He likes his adversity direct, and his responses to it just as direct. So, if you're facing running up a proverbial mountain, you might as well run up a literal one.

Or three. The first proverbial mountain was getting to the first division of the minor league. For that, he chose El Tepozteco, the well-trod mountain outside Tepoztlán, Morelos, with its pyramid a third or halfway up the slope dedicated to Tepoztecatl, one of the four hundred drunken rabbits of legend, and a god of pulque, the fermented maguey alcohol dating to hundreds or thousands of years before Cortez showed up. Hippies and New Agers liked to climb its face at dawn, or at least the morning, as far as the pyramid, anyway. Tlacaelel paid his respects to Tepoztecatl on his way up, but then continued toward the peak, leaving the Neo-pagans behind. He veered right to San Juan Tlacotenco to pick up itacates (a triangle of fried corn masa) topped with chapulines y queso (fried spiced grasshoppers with cheese) and a refill of water before continuing uphill. The air was thin, but this was his home turf, and he was well used to it.

The next proverbial mountain would be making the major league, and joining the Schwarzwald roster. For that, his literal mountain was one mountain to the Northeast: Popocatépetl, the famous volcano overlooking Mexico City, somewhat behind el Tepozteco to the west from the perspective of Tepoztlán. The mountain was much taller, but being beside Mexico City meant it had rather better amenities to support a climber than just an ancient pyramid and god of pulque.

The third proverbial mountain would be reaching the first division of the major league, as Schwarzwald had also slipped to the second division in the major league. For this, he chose Cerro Sillatepec, a mountain few would know. To its north was the Cofre de Perote - a huge and high mountain with picturesque peaks, though out of sight. Cerro Sillatepec had no special amenities to help climbers, and was in fact less high than Popocatepetl. But what it offered instead was a perfect view southward of the highest mountain in all Mesoamerica: Iztactepetl, also known as Pico de Orizaba, over 5000 metres in altitude. Because no matter what peaks you might reach, you still need to contemplate further goals, proverbial or literal.

After two decades of ball in net being Bimitar's entire ethos and existence, it was time for a change. Reykjavik was struggling to reach the dominance they had enjoyed for quite some time, and some of the team was growing a bit concerned. The ball had not been going in net for them but it was for the opponents, which is not allowed. In an effort to address these issues, Rashford and Chicken cooked up a plan. They asked to take Bimi out of his natural habitat in front of goal and move him to the middle of the park to become a more central piece of the puzzle. He was taken aback at first. Why would they want to remove the most lethal striking force the world has ever known from their attack? Surely this would lead to the ultimate demise of the franchise and the dissolution of the board of directors. Calmly, Chickford explained their vision, which included Bimi pulling the strings in order to allow others to put ball in net AND prevent the opponents from getting to our net to put the ball in. The idea certainly wasn't what he had envisioned when he moved to Iceland, but part of what he did envision was winning. Rey hasn't won the league since S20, which is simply malarkey. And if this is what it would take to make them champions again, Bimi was going to make the most of it. As such, he spent almost an entire off-season in a training program with one of his the players he admired as a youth, Tata Youre. A do it all sort of Midfielder, Tata was happy to transfer his knowledge of the position and how Reykjavik specificaly liked that role to operate from his time with the club. These skills have already started to manifest into some statistical improvements, completing 87% of his passes over his frist two seasons back in the majors. The assists are starting to arrive as weill, with 6 in theS23 season. But Bimi knows that's not enough. He must continue to grow and create if Rey is going to return to championship form. And so, he shall.

Approved - And best of luck on Bimi's continued growth in the middle of the pitch

Career Point Task #4 - Versatility:
The offseason was a significant turning point in my journey as a pro footballer. As I looked ahead to future seasons, I realized that being versatile would be crucial. Not just for my personal growth, but also for helping my team in various tactical scenarios. Instead of zeroing in on just one position, I dedicated the offseason to broadening my skills to play in different midfield roles, both central and more intense.

My offseason training was a mix of solo technical drills and organized tactical sessions with my teammates and mentors. I spent a lot of time training with defensive midfielders and central playmakers, honing in on positional awareness, defensive spacing, and ball movement under pressure. These sessions really focused on reading the game from deeper positions, spotting passing lanes sooner, and knowing when to slow things down or speed them up. Collaborating with seasoned holding midfielders helped me refine my anticipation and positioning, all while keeping the creative flair that characterizes my style.

I also added specific match-simulation drills that had me switching roles during practice. Starting as a central midfielder and then dropping back into a deeper defensive position or moving up during transitions. This not only enhanced my tactical insight but also boosted my communication and leadership on the field. Training in various settings, from small sided games to full pitch tactical setups, solidified my ability to adapt quickly and remain effective regardless of role or formation.

Off the field, watching game footage was key to my growth. I analyzed matches featuring versatile midfielders who excel at controlling the tempo and providing defensive support, examining how they position themselves relative to their teammates and opponents. This analysis directly influenced my training habits and decision making during games.

Thanks to all the hard work I put in during the offseason, I've become a more well rounded and flexible midfielder. I can play as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder, or a deeper playmaker, depending on the team's needs. This adaptability helps me support my team more effectively and gives coaches more options for their future tactics.

Over the course of this offseason management in Schwartzwelder decided it was time for Aimo to widen his positional abilities and start to learn to play on the left hand side as well. At first he was not able to convert to left winger position on his own but when his teammates in Montreal and Schwartzwelder came together to help him out on top of having his head coach personally present at all times for him to make notes off of Aimo's development. Not only was he able to adapt to tips and tricks given by his current veteran teammate in Montreal, Clara Schmidt he saw how he would be able to fully incorporate his very Arjen Robben -esque style of play into a whole another level.

They also arranged a week long "field trip", so to say to Germany to visit Schwarzwelders training facilities for a brief training camp in the offseason. Many of the faces in there did not recognise him at all but when the club president came along to greet him personally did they start to realise who he actually was. Kimi Häkkinen, another veteran winger from the black forest club was given the task to show fellow finnish player Aimo how the winger position should be played from another angle. Häkkinen was very hands on during the training sessions althroughout his visit in Germany, to the point where they spent nights together going through Kimi's old clips back when he was the hot stuff in the league.

After a very intense offseason, Aimo was ready to give it a go in a training match against Schwarzwelder, a tradition as long as their cooperation in the SSL - and he nailed it. In his first game not only was he able to withstand his ground on a completely new role, his play was very impactful althroughout the game which ended in Schwarzwelder's well deserved 4-2 victory, where Aimo gave 2 assists from the left hand side - not a bad debut in my opinion and hopefully he will be able to adapt to playing on the left hand side against much stronger teams as well

BREAKING: Ozzy Trent Kovács diary leaked!!!!

From trusted sources close to Ozzy we have got our hands on a page out of his diary. It appears to be a log entry from the pre-season training camp with his new team AS Paris. We get a nice insight in a day of the rising star.

Diary log day 10, Nice

Today is the last day of training camp during the off-season. I'm feeling a lot more comfortable around my new teammates. I lost the need to prove myself after how they treated me on the field in my last game at Inter London against these guys.

My main focus this week was getting the hang of the new role I'm being expected to play. Completely on the opposite side of what I'm used to. It's the sacrifice I had to make to be able to play for this amazing club.

The weather was great today in Nice. Having shared the training field with the players from São Paulo and Paris has been an eye opener. The level has been so incredibly high, I feel like I've made a huge step forward compared to my last match with Benelux against Alpine.

I've spent a lot of time with Ryan and Roque and listened to all they had to say about being a wing back. They were very open and answered any question I had. With this information I feel fully confident I can perform well in minors next season.

Tomorrow we travel back home for a few needed days of rest to charge back up for the pre-season friendlies. I'm looking forward to make my debut for Paris.

OTK

There we have it, a nice little insight in the brain of Ozzy Trent Kovács. Hope you enjoyed the read and until next time.
