Pruney Struggling to Find Footing In First Season with North Shore
#1
Rookie seasons are never easy. After an innagural season with Stockholm, Dwayne Pruney finds himself in his first real season in the SSL minors. As we approach the halfway mark of the minors season, it's been a rough go for the young man from London.

"I've been having a tough start if I'm being honest with myself. I have really been enjoying being a part of the team and the North Shore organization, truthfully. But, it can be quite tough to come on in relief. This is my first experience playing off the bench and it has just been hard to get going as such."

While Pruney's spent the majority of the season coming in later in matches, he's found some ways to contribute. Through 13 contests (6 appearances), he's got his first career goal in the minors off his back which has freed up some of the pressure to get started. Though offense hasn't been too much of an issue this season with Pruney and the rest of the group in North Shore United - the group is middle of the table in scoring. It has, however, been a rough go of it for the club keeping the ball out of their own net.

"I think overall we've got plenty of opportunity to grow in that area," said Pruney when asked in the scrum following North Shore's recent lost to AF Masques. "We couldn't seem to get our offense going today and we just keep putting Chicken in the firing lane. Unfortunately, that's not going to be a recipe for success at nearly any level of football."

As North Shore looks forward to continued growth and increased opportunities to improve in the second half of the season, it has a tough road ahead. Its next match day is with an AS Paris team that sits atop of the standings with 10 wins over its first 13 matches and scores at will.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge, quite frankly. I am hoping to get an opportunity to get in the game and contribute to what could be a big win for the club to set the momentum for the second half of the season."
