Caroni Riveras: A season in Review at Romana
#1
Caroni Rivera’s first season out of the academy was one that came with a lot of surprises, he received the call up to go straight to the Majors and after admittedly hearing some rumors that were along the lines of “Putting a player straight from the academy in the big leagues is usually a sin” (Paraphrasing from something he overheard his coach and club president speak about) His performance on Romana’s left wing have been decent, but he will be expected to perform better in the future as he improves and gets up to speed in the league.

With an average rating of 6.67 and 1 goal and 2 assist to his name this has been a season of getting used to the league, learning from his teammates and getting into rhythm, which is way easier said than done.

Speaking of Rivera’s teammates, he has been trying to learn a couple of things about and them, first and foremost from his counterpart on the right side, Hippity Hoppity, which has been one of the highlights of the team thus far with 5 goals and 16 assists to his name. The Australian right wing back is someone that Caroni wishes to emulate in the upcoming seasons, as the Venezuelan numbers pale in comparison of one of the top performers in his position in the SSL.

Hippity is not the only teammate that he has to learn from though, Blackleg Sanji is Rivera’s partner on the left wing and although their plays have been few and far between there’s a small hint of a possible partnership in the making if both can learn how to play around the other and improve their game so they can be more productive for the team.

Lastly, although he was chosen for the South American squad that will go to the WSFC he’s probably not going to see a lot of minutes. Fellow Venezuelan Left Wing Back Carolina Salazar has proven to be the better fit for the position and its all but confirmed to be starting every match unless something unexpected happens.

A tough position to be in, but great performance for a rookie in the majors.
